I was one of the five Tactical riders.

Starting Saturday at the expo and check-in, it was great to meet other owners/riders. Also received a fair share of inquiries on and around the bike. Very happy to report that the bike performed flawless. On a windy day with a disc it handled predictably, was extremely stable, very responsive and - most important - just plain fast. A joy to ride, including into a solid headwind.

The rider (me) .... different story. I missed exiting the loop part of the course after two loops, and rode an extra ~2.5 miles, starting a third loop. Qualified for worlds in Denmark (despite worst run in 10 years), and am looking forward to training and racing next year on one of the fastest and easiest to travel with bikes that is around. Its fantastic looks don't hurt either ;)

Cheers, S.

So... did anyone else notice that Goaty McGoatFace a.k.a. Cam Wurf didn't ride the full bike course?

I talked to the family riding your bikes. They had nothing but great things to say about you and your bikes. Well thought out product. I was excited to see them in person.
Top of my list for the spring.

Cheers,
Don

Congratulations and thanks for the great ride report. I had heard that the second half of the bike had crazy strong head winds and the temps were hot and humid.

Great job out there! It was definitely a tough course. I came out of the swim well ahead of expectations despite having a monster calf cramp on the way to the far buoy on the second lap. That would bite me again later in the day. Solid bike at 2:26, kept the NP/Wavg a little under target due to the cramp. Got off the bike and tried to go at goal pace. Hit 6:30 for the first mile, and the calf was screaming at me. No ice until the far aid station was also a bit annoying. Nothing like warm water to cool you only slightly. Ended up with a 1:41 run. Not my best run, but not horrible. 2d in 40-44 AG, going to ITU Worlds.

Tough winds and brutal heat. Swim was a bit long. My BBS power profile was based off of the old 53-mile course, so that wasn’t ideal. I think those are all of my excuses. Saw a lot of carnage during the last ten miles of the bike and the entire run.

Dan, I do not yet have one of your bikes but I did use your case and also qualified for Worlds. Case performed flawlessly and I am looking forward to taking it to Denmark next year. Jack

Sure looks like he did. You could report it to the timing company listed on the results page linked above. Or ask him if he's aware on his Strava post.

PremierBike had 5 competitors on Tactical's - 4 qualified for Worlds. Congratulations to all these athletes for putting in the work and getting great results. Maybe the 5th did also but I have not heard yet. I heard it was wind and hot the last 1/2 of the bike leg.

my brother mentioned he saw a herd of tacticals. i really really wanted to see one in person but i was too beat up afterwards to walk around and look. i regret it now :( congrats on the great results!

When he passed me, he was drafting off of a Sheriff Moto (very close), I tried to keep up with him for a 3-4 minutes but eventually I had to give up and let him go. He did get a 4 minute penalty, not too sure if it was because of the Moto Drafting, or the course cutting. When he cut the course I assume he was just following the lead moto and the sheriff moto, so I assume that it was an honest mistake.

I heard that the 4-minute penalty was for "blocking". Apparently, he was riding on the left side of the roadway...not like anyone was going to pass him but rules state that he needs to be on the right side unless passing. Probably just used to pro positioning rules versus AG.

I noticed when looking at the Strava leaderboards that he cut the course. Didnt realize that he was the winner. Looks like he rode last years course which was shorter. Shouldnt cutting the course result in a DNF?

The penalty was for blocking as it states at the bottom of http://triregistration.com/...p?triresultid=285902

Does anyone know why we were directed into the school parking lot on 248th St?

My head was buried trying to stay out of the wind and I just followed the riders in front of me.

Yes, it was the turnaround for the oly. It was way safer having it that way and just a random uturn.

==========================================================
that question was asked at the race info meeting i attended. the answer seemed to be with the olympic distance race----not just their U turn, but to make the merging of 1/2 IM and olympic racers go smoothly and safely in the (admittedly limited) instances where those groups met.
