Why do you waste our time??? She only went 15:42 and was 14 sec off of her own WR. I mean, 90% of ST can swim faster than that (in an OWS with a strong current and in a wetsuit:)

Damn! Universal is televising it, but only two sessions.
And, not today.
Typically, when distance are televized; they show less than a quarter of the race.Even in the Olympics.
I would love to see a whole distance race.

I'm sorry I'm a bad boy I was engrossed in the flyover start progression of the race right after and forgot! Just wanted to get the link up real quick so people could watch online if they wanted.

She was soft pedaling that race her kick was almost off compared to when she is in throw down mode in a final. I think her gap was ~ 50m on 2nd it was crazy. They zoomed in on her at the wall and literally she was hardly even gassed. I know what she looks like at the wall when she has put it all on the table having watched her enough to know there was way more in her throttle. Can hardly wait for Worlds.

Super interested to see how rusty Phelps is and to see what he is racing didn't look at sheets.

Did IT's threads rub off on you? Paddles/fins/wetsuits are what is holding the sport back you charlatan! Now go back to your warm up set of 100 x 100 leaving on :55.

there's a link to live webcasts on SwimSwam.com, if anyone is interested. I caught Ledecky's swim starting at about the 400, she did look a little off at the start of the race, but she came back really well. I "think" she neg split the 1500, but I haven't seen the splits to confirm or not.

Shame that McBroom scratched yesterday, I would have liked to see what he could've done in the 800. I'd imagine that he cares more about the 1500 though.

And Phelps has an interesting lineup, he's entered in the 400 free. I hope he swims it and doesn't scratch.

There was another really impressive swim in Ledecky's race, Madelyne Donohoe is only 13 (16:44 for 3rd)...

I know I heard that name over the loud speaker, but didn't know the age. Whew scary. We have a 14 year old on a local club team who got a trials cut a few weeks ago and she is just a little half pint. Amazing to watch these little twerps just MOTOR!

wow.....

She swam just down the street from me for years with Randy Reese at Clearwater aquatics, but if memory serves she moved to NBAC last year. I've watched her swim a few times it's astonishing to see that kind of talent up close.

And not really to do with Mesa, but because Phelps is there it kinda relates.

Phelps confirmed that he would not be seeking a spot on the Worlds team for Kazan, basically saying that he didn't want to displace anyone who had earned their spot. So the FINA Exec Director comes out today and says that it wouldn't be a problem to assign an extra spot for Phelps, just because he's Phelps. Forget about the qualification process, it's cool.

WTF FINA? They already have a credibility problem, now this???

For the swimmers, other than sunscreen (I assume?), do you approach an outdoor meet much differently than indoor?

I'm watching the 100 breast.....that stroke is still a black art to me. The propulsion these kids can get from that whip kick is wowsers.

can be harder to stay warm if it's breezy, cool if it's hot, between events.

Backstroke can be an issue if you just train indoors, especially long course.

mirrored goggles are your friend.

But mostly, outdoors is much nicer than indoors.

Well MP looked awfully strong in the 100 fly I think I heard on the overhead that was a top 25 time in the world this year. Can't imagine him not tuning his 2fly though. The 400 free is what I'm dying to see. He went 3:47 in Indy in 2005.....gonna be a hoot!

Yeah, he was a hair slower than at the same meet last year, but with a lot more beard.... A lot of the other top times are shaved as well.

I think he's done with the 2 fly and the 4IM though. They are really tough to fit into the Olympic schedule, with prelims / semis / finals. he's gonna focus on the freestyles, 2IM and 100 fly.

Ledeck surprised me with her 4IM. Thought she looked pretty good, considering that she is really a pure freestyler...

I just saw that, it isn't what he was saying last year.

I don't think he'll end up doing it in Rio. He would be the best American, so he might, but I don't see him beating Le Clos, unless Le Clos decides to not give a crap anymore. and I think it'll take a lot out of him to swim that 3 times.

100 fly
200 free
200 IM
possibly the 100 free, depending on if he gets his front end speed up a bit. He's never gonna hang with Adrian over the first 50, but he needs to be a bit closer...

plus 3 relays makes it a pretty full schedule for Rio... If he does all of the individual events that's at least 15 swims.
