Lube for rainy season IM-distance race
I'm currently running Squirt lube, which is working out ok for me. I'm still having a bit of black residue coming off (see previous thread: http://forum.slowtwitch.com/...ring=squirt#p6290561), but I'm relatively happy with it.

I know from previous experience that I'm also happy to use Finish Line Dry Teflon.

My question is: I have an IM-distance race coming up the middle of June, which falls right at the beginning of the rainy season here in Western Japan. Would you:

a) continue to use Squirt until then, and cross your fingers for a dry race weekend; or,
b) switch to Finish Line Dry in the expectation of rain (I heard it can handle rain slightly better than Squirt, although I may be misguided)
c) say to hell with it, and switch to a wet lube in the expectation of rain.

Or does anyone have experience of Squirt holding up against torrential downpours making the whole thing a moot point.

Take the chain off and wax it properly the day before.
It' will handle downpours better than most.

Thanks for the waxing suggestion. I'll happily wax my legs, but don't have the patience to wax my chain!
Besides, taking waxing equipment away to the race isn't really an option.

Just take a waxed chain and slip it on the night before

Again, thanks for the advice. I may look into waxing my chain in the future, but that's not an option before my upcoming race.
I'm really hoping for answers regarding the options I stated.

Never tried it, but I've heard motor oil in the rain helps to keep things lubed. It's thicker and more water resistant than typical bike lubes. If you're going to have to clean the bike cause it's going to rain and get messy, you can clean the oil off at the same time. Definitely not an every day solution, wax would be best there.
