Or maybe it is the Gods of ST are slowly taking the top guys out one by one until Jordan figures he has only Mirinda to worry about and finally enters.....

That sucks, who is going to lead off the bike for the men and then blow up on the run then?

Last weekend was the race he needed to validate his Kona slot. His leg is injured. He's out.

Quite the turn of events...the Trek boys go from destroying everyone on the bike and making history in Kona, to becoming completely irrelevant in the sport of triathlon.

He likely feels that he doesn't have enough time to heal, then jump into anther IM (to validate his spot), then do a build for Kona

This shows the issue with WTC policy on wanting it's top stars to validate their spot. He likely would have not raced and got injured, forcing their policy has forced him out.

Since he has enough points, he could do the Andreas Raelert or Melissa Rollins strategy. Enter, complete and not compete (and possible have fun along the way).

I don't know that even thats the best thing for a AT issue if its trying to heal. Although in the article when he says its been going on for well over a year and he doesn't have a diagnosis, it makes you wonder.

He says he has been injured for 15 months. You are grasping at straws........

How would we know if Lieto planned to walk the marathon or if he simply got tired off the bike?

What? That's crazy talk. You can't blame the WTC for making someone race who's been injured for over a year.

Isn't that what he does anyway--swim and bike hard, then walk the run?

Basically, I’ve had a lower leg tightness, which has manifested in Achilles tendonosis most likely—it hasn’t been officially diagnosed—but swelling in the Achilles near the heel. I’ve been dealing with it for about 15 months, so pretty much all of last year.

You would think a pro athlete would have got an official diagnosis sorted within 15 months.

This is too bad for Chris considering the emphasis the guy puts on this race alone. I don't think there are enough races left for him to get qualifier points even if he overcame his injuries and bounced back. Seems like IMNYC would be his only shot.
