Ledecky going for a double at worlds
Tuesday at Worlds, 1500m followed by 200m approx 20 minutes later. Schedule includes five events: 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m frees, plus the 4x200m free relay

Amazing swimmer

No coasting in running and no crying in baseball

She's a lock for the 1500. The 200 will be a lot tougher, but made a bit easier since I don't think Sjostrom is doing the 2. (I could be wrong though, haven't checked the heat sheets, but that's what I recall).

If she doesn't go for a wr in the 1500, then she'll have a chance in the 200. Otherwise, she might medal, but I don't think she'll be able to win.

Of course, I'm wrong a LOT, it would be nice to see young Ms Ledecky prove me wrong again.

Ya, I think if she sandbags a bit on the 1500(which she could easily and still win) she has a shot at the 200. That is her toughest event, physically, and from a competition standpoint. There are tons more people swimming the 200, and most of the worlds swimming talent ends up there. Not just because of the middle distance that brings in pure sprinters and some distance swimmers down, but because of the 4X200 relay too. This is the sweet spot to make big teams and big meets. The 1500 is like being put into right field in baseball, the least impact full spot you can hide someone. Same goes for the men too.

And speaking of sjostrom, wr for the 100 fly in semis today! I'm excited to see if she has anything more in finals.

Monty, wtf with the U.S. Men's 4x100. 11th in prelims, tied with Germany. Germany?? They haven't had a really strong program in years, other than a few individual standouts like biedermann.

Hell, canada made the final.

The Aussie men also shat the bed in the 400. No Aussies in the final.

I just checked, on Tuesday evening Ledecky has the 1500 final and the 200 semis. Still tough (gotta be top 8) but not nearly as tough as if they were both finals.

That is an entirely different scenario now. She can go for the WR in the 1500 and still be fine for top 8- 20 minutes later. She could ride that adrenaline rush all the way to the 200 prelims.

Feign, Ervin, Grevers, Dwyer. Looks like ervin didn't have his usual reliability, he split a 49.7 (22.3 first 50 though, so his back half just wasn't there)

3:16.01. They needed a half second better to make finals

Not surprised at all at the result for the US (or rather the times). And all the swimmers and swim fans from other countries who wanted to see the US go down in this event got their wish. The only thing I was somewhat surprised of was Ervin. He's usually solid on the relays, especially from a rolling start. I hope this is a wake up call to the younger guys like Murphy and Conger that ALL 4 spots on the relay are up for grabs. Hell, even if you threw Adrian or Phelps in there (imo) I don't think they'd even break 48. IMO Brazil is the most stacked going into rio. Not a big fan of Cielo and some of the other guys who were suspended a while back, but throwing them out they still have young depth.

Well, so much for any doubts about a world record from Katie. 15:27.71 in prelims, broke her old record by half a sec. nearly 30 secs ahead of Lotte Friis.

Universal sports is live streaming. I haven't found a source that works in Canada yet, if anyone knows a source please let me know.

Even swimming Canada's website is linking to universal for the stream.

Apparently, Ledecky wasn't even going for the wr. Coach told her to take it "easy" through 900, build the next 300, then pick her own pace for the last 300. It'll be interesting to see what she does tomorrow, whether she really goes for the 1500 or just saves her legs for the 200.

Ledecky now holds 7 of the 10 fastest times for 400m. Has that ever happened before?

And did you see Sun Yang? I love how he "strolls" along, then shoots past the competition at the end.

Kinda how he strolled along after his positive test last year...

I am skeptical of him after that...

Top 12 relays auto qualify for Rio. Aussies will have to race a relay Time Trial at trials to get in now.

FYI ... 15 yr old Taylor Ruck swam sub 2 at US Jrs yesterday.... World Jrs looking good for Canadas girls... swam 1.59xx and then had a monster relay split.

She won the 4x200 almost single handed for her club....

2.05
2.04
2.06
1.58

I see her on the Sr National/Olympic Team in 2016... I see her improving and pushing Overholt big time.

I reaaally hope lochte beats yang in the 200. Or leclos, or mcevoy, or biedermann, or .... I hate the way that yang's suspension was handled.
