I'm going to Lanzarote in ~2 weeks. I was looking up open water swimming races and they mostly begin in June. It looks like a 2.6km swim from the main island to Caleta Del Sebo so was thinking of just swimming that (assuming I get confirmation the currents aren't too bad!). Anyone have any recommendations on how to do a crossing or long ocean swim safely? (E.g. well-established or frequently-swum routes, recommendations for boats that can guide/support)

Or any recommendations about bays to swim?
