Some of the interesting bibs out there start with #139 for Harriet Anderson in the 75-79 age group and #161 Sister Madonna Buder in the 80-84 category.
#143 Dave McGillivray appears on the list of human interest Ironman competitors. He's the longtime race director of the Boston Marathon, whose personal tradition has been to run his marathon after everyone else is done. He's had a heck of a couple of years, of course he'd want to blow off some stress and celebrate the Boston Marathon's comeback year with a little 140.6 adventure at Kona.
all the hot dogs and testosterone-fueled type As can have your winning heroes and i'll gladly stay up all night watching and waiting for Ms. Harriet (sorry Sister, but I'm not expecting you to finish the swim, but hoping nonetheless) to cross that finish line. Not just a heroic effort, but superheroic. i recently jumped to a new AG (55-59) and my mom sent me this "...the day will come when good sense will allow you to put aside the running shoes (or not), the bike (or not) and the swim (probaby not) .... enjoy the success you have achieved in so many avenues and enjoy yourself! I love you!"
not sure i'll ever have that "good sense" (or not :)) and am so incredibly glad Ms. Anderson does not either. She is an amazing inspiration.
