Kona Awards Ceremony

Can any of the more experienced guys tell me a bit about what to expect from this. All i can find online is where and when.
Lets just say that unless a good 3-400 people have 4+ flats I wont expect to go on the podium, so is it still worth going?
And what are the norms for how long time does it take (it starts at 6PM, can we go for dinner with the fam at 8PM)?
Is it worth going to / taking your wife to?
Will I be able to get drinks/beers there (my only plan for that Sunday - this may or may not have a correlation with my low chance of getting on the podium)
Anything else...

Thanks

The welcome dinner is much more entertaining IMO than the awards ceremony.

I went last year being my first year in Kona. I don't plan to attend this year.

Definitely worth going to. Decent food and free KBC beer. Lotsa folks. More fun if you have a group to sit with. It drags on a bit but you can always leave early

Take your family - support team out for a nice dinner after putting up with training / travel / hours away from home.

Enjoy the race!

Depends what happens, free beer at the awards. I saw lot's of "entertainment" at the awards and afterwards at the bar last year ;-)
