Written by the fish who probably outruns the rest of us in both speed and distance... hmmmm
And when she does swim, she usually knocks out some monster w/o. (such as today's --- sheesh!)
Me? My little 45 minute swim window allows about this:
4x[200s/50k]
5x[100k+100band]@:10RI
200 s/k/cool

2200 sc yardages

I have a general swimming related "ailment" that I figure one of the resident fishes might know about. Sneezing, I sneeze like crazy after workouts, probably 3-4 hardy gut busting sneezes as I walk to the locker room. Any ideas? I don't suck in any noticeable amount of water through my nose and it happens in the pool and OWS.

and since I ventured into the July Fishtwitch thread, here's my planned swim today after work.

1 mile OWS
4 x .25 mile

I sneeze after I get out of the water too - open water or a pool. If it persists long after swimming, use a neti pot. I don't know why it happens...

I think the water surface is a magnet for dust and pollen and... well, you don't want to know what else. Likely an allergy.

Not much of a fish, but I'm definitely spending this summer in the water. So far managed a 4-day streak of sea- and pool-swimming that I hope will last the rest of this heatwave. If I can manage a similar leap in swim fitness as last summer, I'll be pleased.

Yeah, well, I need another mesh bag like I need a(nother) hole in my head.
It would be cool if the prizes varied each year, and perhaps the milestones to get them. I'd like to see goggles, paddles, fins, sunscreen, shampoo (maybe), etc., added to the 'pool' of coveted prizes.

282.62 miles swum (=497,408 yards, =454,830 meters). Almost 500k!

I wish.... must be nice to escape the heat and humidity at the pool.... I'm swimming outdoors, because the ventilation is so terrible at my YMCA that it's cooler outdoors than indoors. Outdoor pools are running 82F and only getting warmer. The old bastards splashing about scream bloody murder if the indoor pool falls under 83F. Usually it's closer to 84F.

So no, there's no escaping the heat an humidity, although this week is supposed to be nice, then back into the fryer.

shampoo would be good - we should write to them and suggest that.
I don't need another mesh bag, I think I just like getting stuff in the mail...

Adhering to the theme of this month's challenge - sprints!

500s
5x[100band/100k]
non-stop[4x50@45/3x50@40/3x50@35]
200 s/k cool

2200 sc yardages

I only made the first :35 interval. I think the band-work fatigued me enough. On that bandwork, I know the effort I need to put in for a normal 1:10 100y. That same effort with band yields a 1:20/19 - repeatable. My kick is worth 10 seconds.

Got in the pool today for 2600, but not overly sprinty. Actually kind of an easy workout.

Had yesterday off for Canada's birthday, went to a free concert across the harbour. BBQ, and a splash in the hotel pool in the am with my wife. We celebrated our 2nd anniversary on Monday and stayed at the resort we were married at.

Long time reader, first time poster. I see the theme is sprinting so I figured since I did a sprint-ish workout I'd put it up.

5 x 400m warmup (swim, pull, paddle pull, pull, swim) around 1:25-1:30/ 100m, about 30s rest (though not precise)

Main set: 2 x [12 x 50m sprint with zoomers on :55] all were around 30-33s

100 kick easy
400 pull easy
400 paddle swim easy

Total 4100m (LCM)

Trying to work on the opening speed for these fast open-water starts.

Since my A-race last weekend (Did great - 9 in national champs and like 15'th overall, damn old ppl. I'm very pleased since the swim was shortened due to horrible weather. The silver suit was very good though, had a solid swim.) I have more or less only been swimming. Legs are feeling decent now but still gonna take it easy until next week.

Sunday, after the race
800 ez
4x100 IM
1200 LCM

Monday:
800 mixed warmup
2x
2x400 cruise
2x200 pull
4x100 solid @1:40
4000 LCM

Wednesday:
300 ez, 200 im
12x200 @3:15
100 ez
2x400, pushed last one a bit and did 5:42 LCM, 3 seconds from lifetime best and this was in no way @p400.
300 ez
6x50 build 1-3
2x:
300 ez
6x50 build 1-3
200 ez
2x100 15 max 85 ez
100 ez
2x50, first as nobreather second as 25 fly max and 25 very slow
Then some pulling for a total of
7200 LCM

And today:
300 ez, 100 IM, 2x100 25 fly 75 ez
10x100 every 3rd hard
200 pull
5x200 every other hard
5x100@1:35 <- PB set but cruised it, should have swum harder to challange myself.
200 pull
100 ez
3500 LCM

OW race this saturday, swedens largest with >13k participants. It is however shortened to 1500m due to last weeks horrible weather and the cold water temperatures (13C, 55F) it has caused.

I sneeze prodigiously (usually 6 at a time) and also get a runny nose for about 24 hours after most swims. After experimenting with every possible variable and various conversations with doctor friends/my naturopath wife I've concluded that I'm just sensitive to chlorine. Not allergic - it doesn't send me to hospital. The solution: antihistamine. Just like for hay fever. Take it before or just after swimming and it works a treat. Might work for you guys too.

I'm allergic to some pollen. I have not been able to find out which one but I think it is birch or grass. When I swim outdoor I get some massive issues and feel like I'm going to catch a cold but if I take antihistamine it goes away within a few hours. Rinsing the nose usually works though and if you use a little more salt than recommended it stings in a really comfortable way.

6 mi run w/ 12 x 1 min fast/1 min easy
5300 yd swim

Warmup:
500
4 x 125 kick the first length of each

main set: modified version of one from a Katie Lekerdy (sp.?) set posted this winter. My modification = add kicking, and not do the 5 x 100 / 5 x 200 part. I was tired and my "fast" 200s were around 2:35 with a high of 2:40 and a low of 2:31
1 x 100 easy
1 x 200 fast
100 kick
2 x 100 easy
2 x 200 fast
100 kick
3 x 100 easy
3 x 200 fast
100 kick
4 x 100 easy
4 x 200 fast
100 kick

Cooldown
500 swim
100 sidestroke
100 backstroke
100 sidestroke

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine

Had a great experience on Tuesday when my lane mate decided to goof off, stick their kick board under their feet, and then slipped off it. Hit me square on the bridge of the nose; insta-gushing nose bleed. Epic.

Today I was back to swim the set that I was supposed to then. Big props to whoever was in the lane with me. It was crowded, so we were circling; when it got down to just the two of us, opted to just keep on circling. TREMENDOUS. I could've hugged you.

Anyways...
300 w/u
10 x 50 on 1:10 as 25 drill, 25 swim.
Pyramid 500: 100 swim, 200 pull, 300 swim, 400 pull, 500 race, 400 fins/paddles, 300 swim, 200 fins/paddles, 100 race. Leave next top. I was quite pissed to swim a 2:58 200.
300 cool

3600 SCM.
