Am I correctly deducing that the saddle Jordan is riding is Cobb's SHC 170?
Thought he used to ride fiziks?

Ya jordan just threw rasmus to the vultures..Not suprising as rasmus had already dropped off the front two guys, so he has been maxed out, or at least at the pace that he feels he can hold for a good run..But at this rate, he better be ready to run 2;40 if he wants to win. I'm guessing he will give up quite a few minutes from this point on. Jordan negative splits the loops, and he will have Leito there once he decides to help out on the pace..

"might" be that at some point Jordan and the other leaders are going to have one very succinct advantage. The AG'ers will get the hell out of the way when the camera motors catch them and thus yield far sooner for them as opposed to the more silent folks with out a camera crew in the top ten. At IMLP for instance the motors always broke up the packs and cleared the way for the leaders on the out and back...a bonus to be first or the forgone love of the day and defending champ.

"
'long levers' explains why jordan is fast despite being skinny."
i'm not sure what you're referring to, but, so that i'm clear, the leverage i'm talking about refers to torque produced at TDC, which is determined in part by his theoretical muscular power, in part by crank length, and in part by the ability of jordy to recruit his power through the mechanical advantage (or lack thereof) available to him because of his hip angle at TDC. if we shorten his crank, he loses torque through that "lever" shortening (so, when i'm talking about levers i'm talking about the crank arm as lever, not his limbs as levers).
but, the shortening of that lever (the crankarm) is countered by an increase in his hip angle (which is what we get by shortening his crankarm, assuming we leave his armrest drop constant).
that calculus of hip angle, leverage, cadence, frontal profile all goes into the soup. this might further be impacted by other factors, such as chainring profile (maybe rotor rings figure into this, we're experimenting now).

170mm. he rides an 82.5mm saddle height (i'm 6'2" and i ride a 78.5mm saddle height). so, short cranks for a rider that tall. but you'd pry those cranks off his cold dead pedals. if he changes his crank length
at all
, it'll be shorter yet, not longer. but this is tri only, not road. my guess, he's on 175mm on his road bike.

Nice interview with jordan, and he is doing all the pulling right now, not even sure who and if anyone is behind. Hope he is on his race plan and not getting ahead of himself...
And notice that about 70% of the riders he passes are on the bullhorns, boy do these folks need fits!!! And only a few packs of about 5 to 15 riders so far, definately could ride clean if you want to, plenty of room..

That is what I thought it was. I had my knee taped before IMFL with Kinesio tape and it seemed to help but it is hard to tell. Just took it off a couple of days ago.
The guy that taped me warned that if my knee hurt worst to take it off during the race. But there really was no way it could hurt worst :)

not that you need my comment but it looks absolutely perfect!
if a female has a very similar bio mechanics than jordan would you go 165mm ?

as you know, monty, his default big ride was the big loop, on his road race bike, from the compound. this, up 'til 3 or 4 weeks prior to his taper, when he jumped on his tri bike and took to the flatter routes.
i rode the first 15 miles of the big loop with him each time. well, behind him, glued to his wheel, lucky to stay on when the road turned up. he was consistently at 300 watts or close to, and he was just riding his 4:30 pace. he rode what he calls lizard-to-lizard in 4:47, then again in 4:44. (the lizard refers to the lizard sign in front of the compound, on the paved road). if you can ride lizard to lizard in 4:44, you can rip the legs off just about anybody who tries to ride a bike with you.
then he'd get off and run 30 minutes. and he did it all with no visible strain.
one scary moment: i got a frantic call from his dad, who was back east. jordy had set off his GPS alarm. there's a service, since his crash, that he subscribes to: a beacon, like sailors employ for SOS messages. the beacon alerts 911. jordy's dad got a call from the CHP that the emergency beacon had been activated up on the crest. his dad called me, i jumped in the car and started driving the loop backwards. i got to jackson lake and saw him screaming down the hill.
turns out some cafe racer had ridden off the mountain up on angeles crest, his buddies had no cell coverage, jordy popped the beacon and kept riding, jill (driving sag) stayed behind to point the CHPs to the moto rider.

depends on her height. jordy and i put desiree ficker on 165s. ask monty about 165s. the problem is that a lot of these shorter gals probably need 160s or even shorter, but, they're very hard to get.
