Ironman 70.3 St. George (official race day thread)
I'm stuck working today and I'm not overly confident in Ironman coverage, so I'll be checking here!

Anyone on the ground there? How's the weather? Sure wish I could be watching... Hoping for a cracking race with no mechanicals!

Cheers.

As crappy as Ironman live coverage is, at least Matt Lieto provides well written, insightful commentary. He did a pretty good job at Texas full I thought, and so far, his posts about St George have been good. He is at least attempting to capture the excitement and drama.

He swam 26:23 vs 27:39 last year. The lead swim time this year was a few seconds slower than last year 23:17 vs 23:09 last year.

The map feature on the tracker is great - favourite a few athletes and see them as they move. Top work!

Kienle lost 30secs in t1 to Brownlee and Sanders. Must have had an issue.

Still ahead of Sanders but only 30secs in it.

Appleton hanging on to Kanute and Brownlee it appears out front.
Don in chase pack.

So 76 second faster than last year or 4 second per 100m.

It will be interesting if everyone can make sure they race their own race and not destroy themselves because they think they need a super big lead off the bike.

Brownlee going for it. Descending Froome style. Everyone has lost time on the bike up to 11 miles including Sanders (20 seconds)

As a fan of the sport in general....Its killing me there's no live coverage. The little 12 second video on the live blog of Brownlee descending is a tease.

Yeah, it would seem he made 20 seconds up moving from 3:09 after the swim to 2:48 after 11 miles on bike.

Sanders getting on the draft train. Brownlee soloing at the front.

This is shaping up to be interesting.

Like.

I'd also prefer a leader board that went more than 10 deep.
