I don't know, but trying to visualize the air flow over them while spinning and the bike is moving forward makes my head hurt.

I'd be interested in these if you could upgrade the braking surface to aluminum.

They're for cyclists so it doesn't matter (provided the sock-length brigade approve).

They are Italian..... or at least they claim so.

That must account for something.
And I bet there are plenty out there who find that broken English "cute".

My armchair wind tunnel says no.

But if we know anything about Mario, we know that style can trump substance when it suits him.

They look like a marketing ploy but.......until now, all wheels (rims) have been constant as they spin. While those rims may or may not be better than a standard wheel, they do offer an interesting avenue to investigate. One trip to the wind tunnel would answer the prime question of course.

Makes you go Hmmmmmm......

I don't like the round looking spoke just a couple of mm from the face of the shark fin bit. That can't possibly be great.

This is all speculative, but the concept isn't completely ridiculous. In a standard wheel design the wake will likely shed vortices in an arbitrary turbulent manner. The more bluff-bodied or separated the flow, the larger these wakes are going to be. Companies publish cute streamlined pictures of flow, but realistically the flow in these regions would look like crashing waves on a shore (but at a higher frequency), rolling up, sometimes reversing, and shedding. Something like this would probably force the shedding to occur in a controlled vortex at the end of each fin, making for a cleaner wake. It could be that you'd get cleaner, coherent, periodic vortices, but also experience aerodynamic oscillations in cross-winds. /speculation
