Traveling to Mt Tremblant this year for IM from the U.S. Apparently our healthcare coverage doesn't cover injury out of country (or at least not with out a fight). Since there may be a bit more risk of injury with IM I'm curious if anybody has gotten extra travel insurance that would cover injury during Ironman (or any other 'extreme sport').

If you go the travel insurance route, really read the fine print because they will try to weasel out of everything. But most medical costs are pretty low in Canada compared to what we see in the U.S. The only thing I can think of that would really cost a lot is if something catastrophic happened *and* you had to be flown back to the U.S.
If you insure your bike through Velosurance, they have some medical coverage options and they include Canada.

Funny they label triathlon as an extreme sport up there with downhill mountainbiking and paragliding.
They constantly try to escape from the darkness outside and within
