I'm looking to upgrade my trainer. Considering a Kinetic Fluid. I currently don't use a power meter. My question is that if I plan on purchasing a power meter in the future, can I use it inside on my trainer or would it be better for me to purchase an inRide for indoor power. Differences, etc..?

Any power meter will work indoors on a trainer expect for a powertap with a trainer that has you take off the rear wheel obviously. If you want to train and race with power definitely opt for a regular trainer and a power meter like a quarq, stages, etc since you can use it indoors and outdoors

you can use any power meter with the kinetic fluid.
Be sure to understand temperature drift and zeroing as that is more likely to be an issue on a trainer, as you tend to heat the room up a lot.

A lot of folks use power meters with their trainers. I've found (like a lot of people) that air flow is key to getting in good workouts. This year I upgraded my two box fans to a 20" commercial fan in the front and a wall mounted fan behind me. This has made things a lot more like outside, and I'm able to do intervals at about the same wattage as outside.

The inRide was a cool option for the Kinetic because the original app included a tire press-on force roll down calibration. AFAIK, this ability has been lost since Kinetic re-wrote the original app provided by Wahoo. Now the inRide option is no better than any other virtual trainer software that you can use with this trainer.
Long term, the power meter is a great option because you can use it inside and outside.

+1 on that. You can train with power inside and outside and analyse your data from both better

My second (replacement) InRide died yesterday. Now it only transmits cadence.
So yeah, stick to a regular power meter. I'm hoping Brim Brothers ends up being accurate and precise since I have one bike on the trainer, and another I use outdoors. If not, bye bye Kinetic and hello KICKR, but would sure love to save the cash.
