I'm told I was in the same pool as Chad Le Clos

today - ordinarily I'd say swimming, but I think that would probably be a disservice to the south africans as i'm pretty certain that no one would confuse what I was doing with what they were doing........

It is a total trip though the dynamic where I'm swimming, because its all segregated - male pool, female pool and family pool - all the young kids get out of school, they cant swim so they arrive at 2pm and hang on to the walls and the lane ropes round the periphery as its 2.5m deep, there's a national squad banging out laps at a blinding pace then there's varying degree's of competence in the remaining lap swimmers - so I think it goes from; cant swim 1m and won't let go of the sides to 90-120 seconds / 50 LCM, to 40-50 seconds / 50 to the national team, I bet D1 teams don't need to put up with it - it is pretty funny though one of the coaches didn't look to amused as a 9 year old attempted to infiltrate his lane system wearing a diving mask.........

you could not make it up

Andrew is telling us that he swam at the same time as Chad Le Clos, the 2012 oly swimmer who touched out Phelps for the gold in the 200 fly and won a bronze in the 100 fly. Le Clos went 1:52.96 for his 200 LCM fly in 2012. He's also gone 1:41.45 for 200 scm free, which would be about a 1:32 for 200 scy, which prob more than twice as fast as your average tri person can swim 200 scy. In sum, Andrew telling he swam with a guy who is super, super fast in the water. As an aside, he mentions that, where he's swimming (Qatar IIRC) still requires men and women to swim in separate pools, and that there is a stupendously huge variance in swimming abilities in these pools, from those who can't even swim up to Mr. Le Clos:)

Also, he's the WR holder in the 100/200 scm fly (48.44/1:48.56).
