Do they use IM events as qualifiers for Age Group Nationals? If so, would it be on a non-championship event (top 10%) or special/regional qualifier (top 33%)?

I think any USAT sanctioned event can qualify you. As far as I know, the regional champs and special qualifiers for olympic distance AG nationals are also olympic distance races so I'd guess you'd have to qualify in the top 10% at an IM.

(Oddly it is harder to qualify for Kona in the first place than to finish in the top 33% once you are their."
I qualified for Nationals via IM Maryland last year.
