General question about hotels, i am planning on signing up next week for IM Texas and was wondering how quickly do the hotels sell out, and also if anyone has any recommendations on were to stay... preferably with as little driving as possible race morning.

The hotels within walking distance were sold out almost immediately. Any hotel you get now will require a drive. Plenty of options with a 10 minute or less drive.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express about 3 miles south of the Marriott. Had no issues getting there and getting parked race morning but trying to find parking for athlete check-in and the banquet was a bit of a pain (unless you want to pay to park in the garage at the Marriott.

I booked the Springhill Suites yesterday - 3 miles away for $239/night (uh, wow). They were almost out of rooms.

I'd say book quickly. Every place wants full payment, no refunds. If you use Marriott points, you can cancel up to the day of with no penalty.
