Might be best to give us some context for what you are looking for (i.e. versus another race, etc).

Otherwise - like the previous poster already said - it's sold out.

Fresh water swim. Boring as fuxk, exposed bike route, bike is 2 mi short, lots of concrete on run route, few spectators outside of canal area, dangerous area for practice riding.

Nice restaurants, upscale area, lots of shopping, lots of spectators and great vibe on the canal, bike is flat, weather might be good.

Sure -sorry! πŸ™ˆ
My questions are:
How is the bike course (is the road rough and hilly)?
Is the swim non suit?
Is is hot/ high humidity?
..and is the run hilly or flat?

You strike me as the kind of guy who just goes for it. It is actually quite refreshing.

Con- the swim in the canal was like swimming through septic water. They laid fresh mulch the days before and all the runoff went straight into the canal. It was gross.

Bike- flat boring, very windy last year (cold front moved in)

Run- easy, windy. Was very happy to,have a long sleeve in my SN bag

The bike course is not rough. It's on a closed off toll highway. That makes it super safe and smooth. There are about 1000 overpasses which means there is more elevation gain than you would expect. It is not scenic. At all.

I like the run a lot. It is flat and fast. Support around the canal is amazing. Yeah it's a little sparse in other areas but generally I think the run is great.

The swim is fine. Last year was non wetsuit and I suspect a tad long. Point to point which is kinda cool- you actually go somewhere.

My 2 cents:

The swim is fun except for the canal. Firmly being a middle of the pack swimmer I found the canal very congested and seemingly never ending. Be fast or slow, not in between.

The bike is fun. There are several areas with big bumps that knock bottles out of the racks so watch for them, they are (were) marked and had people shouting but still watch out.

I enjoyed the run. Near the end of each lap you run down a flight of three or four steps, take them carefully. It can get congested along the waterway so be alert. Also and uphill, or up bridge finish.

Enjoy!

.

Once, I was fast. But I got over it.

Uh oh, some folks just crapped their pants. One less Kona slot in play now - unless you've already taken one of course.

Being local, I do this race every year since the beginning. So years are better than others due to heat, humidity, rain, and bike course changes. This year I thought it was great except for the wind on the bike.

As Rob Gray said, he had it just right. "Crappy swim, fast bike, awesome run "

Swim= sucks hard!! Nasty canal water.
Bike= was great, fast, smooth, but windy
Run= always has been the same every year, hot humid, but flat and fast

My questions are:
How is the bike course (is the road rough and hilly)? NOT ROUGH, NOT HILLY
Is the swim non suit? 905 YES. IT IS ALSO NASTY
Is is hot/ high humidity? SHOULD BE AKIN FOR FLA, AZ, OR FOR THAT MATTER -- PLACID, MD, CHATT I BET ARE ALL WITHIN 5-8 DEGREES AVERAGE ON RACE DAY. 2017 WAS COOLER THAN NORMAL.
..and is the run hilly or flat? FLAT.

THERE YOU GO. HOUSTON HAS NICE POEPLE BUT IS POSSIBLY THE UGLIEST CITY I HAVE EVER SEEN. INEXPENSIVE LODGING AND EZ AIRPORT.

I still need my slot. Have not did this race sense β€˜14. Looking forward to this race. Did not have a good Kona race so I want to redeem myself.

Very glad your not in my AG!

Cons: swim seems slow, bike not scenic

Pros: great spectator race on the run, bike is wicked fast.

If we had not had that cold front and winds come through at mile 80 last year you would have seen a lot more AG times sb 4:30.

Anyone in my AG or higher that breaks 5:00 hours should be automatically tested for PEDs. Even with the bike 2 miles short last year, no one did ... although it was close.

All I am saying its a super fast course even with being 2 miles short. There is a tad more climbing then one might think with the on and off ramps!
