I am soooo in!!! Walking across the parking lot this morning and looked down at my watch to realize I would be on PCB sand in exactly 1 month about to hear a cannon sound off. Kinda makes those 5 AM swim sessions mean just a tad more!
Training going pretty ok-will come in a bit undertrained due to having to do BOLC (Army basic training for medical officers) for one month (August). Swam and biked 1x week only, but ran 25-30mi/week. So we'll see...
But looking forward to being back with the IM tribe in PCB!
I'm in...also number 8. Swimming and biking going well, but can't run at the moment (substituting elliptical and arc trainer). Hurt my left leg with all the downhill running at Powerman Zofingen (9hrs 16 mins) a few weeks ago. Hope to be able to jog through the marathon in a month.
My first. Training going well, 16 weeks straight so far with a 70.3 tune-up race. Still healthy and feeling good but I can't wait for Nov 1st. Feels like I've been ready for a few weeks now though there may be still some fitness to be gained in the next 2-3 weeks so I'm trying to keep it together.
Just have fun. You will see and hear stories that will give you chills. It is by far an individual sport.... You will have over 2500 teammates pushing you. It is a great feeling even when it hurts.
I'm in, 1st IM. Training is going well, outside of 2 weeks in early August where I couldn't run. I did the full aquabike at Redman a few weeks ago and it didn't go as I planned, but I'm treating it as a learning experience and changing a few things.
- Training volume lighter than what I had planned or wanted - Significantly lacking on my running
Good
- No injuries - Figured out (mostly) my nutrition - General fitness is there and I'm much lighter (dropped 50 lbs over prior 2 years) - Understand and will embrace the pain I experience during the day
I had the Shiv seatpost fail at Muskoka on 7 Sep. My frame just came back today, so that's great news. I've been on my road bike of late so I hope the transition back isn't too bad. One month shouldn't be an issue at all so I guess I have no excuses now.
I'm in! First ironman for me! Signed up for IM Lake Tahoe so I got to practice all my pre-race strategy and even the walk out onto the beach haha. Hoping training for a hilly race transitions well into a dead flat race. Went out on the IMMD course yesterday and felt pretty decent doing a loop so we shall see!
