One of the guys at masters swimming, we'll call him "S", had really shitty turns. I'd gain about a metre off every wall on him. At the last meet, he wanted to break 5:00 for the 400 for the first time as a masters swimmer, so I offered to help.
My help consisted of "Yo, S, your turns suck".
"what should I do differently?"
"Suck less"
"OK"
and repeat, every day for a month....
At provincial champs last week, he didn't lose anything to me on the walls, and was even beating me off the walls on occasion.
I might write a book on coaching.
