I live in Beaverton and I am willing to illegally enter a garage and adjust this bike to fit it's owner. For free. I'd probably even install a TriRig brake. I don't think I am kidding.

Cody Beals should get the "Spends too much time looking at pictures on tt legends.org" award.

Butterfield gets the "Spirit Airline trashed my bike and this is the best I could do with at 1am in the hotel room with a multi-tool and crap from Home Depot" award.

Can't remember who exactly, but noticed one of the leading pack FPros had about 6 large gels taped to her top tube... Could have been Pallant (think it was a BMC) but too lazy to look for pics.

I couldn't really take pics of the lower numbers, but there were some pretty poor setups in the higher ones for sure.

Oh The Shame of it!
That first bike looks horrendous. Risers and stem spacers for days (pads higher than seat!), rat's nest cables, 17 gels and frame-mounted bottles....

Also, pad reach looks to be close to zero.

The position of her pads doesn't even matter when she's never in aero. There are 37 pictures of her on the bike at World's, and she's not in aero for a single one of them. What is so wrong with a road bike for these people?

How would anybody ever know she's a triathlete if she didn't have a tri bike?

are you guys seriously picking on some random age grouper because they don't meet your standard of what they are supposed to do? really?

It's one thing to talk in general terms, but to talk about specific people whom you don't (presumably) know is quite another.

I was completely confused by that picture. I thought they were bars from another bike in the background or foreground or something, I couldn't figure out where those bars were coming from and where the bars were for THE bike----Just didn't make sense to my brain. Now I know why.

I wanted to see this gal on the bike as well. There's only a couple on her instagram where she's actually in the aero bars, but the photos are mostly from the front. Funny enough she's on a road bike a lot, and in one of those photos she has what looks to be clip on aero bars and is way more aero than she can get on this monster.

To be really helpful, they should set up some kind of check station at the race with a big sign that says, "AERO POLICE", and under that, "Don't get nabbed!" And blow a whistle loudly when they see a non-ST compliant position come by. With some sort of special way to signal if it's a pro who's broken the law.

To be fair to Ms Lester, neither Ryf nor Pallant are in aero in any of their photos either. Cameras were obviously only stationed on steep climbs.

Nah there are some of Ryf at least, if you go right to the bottom of the page she's in aero. I will agree with you that it looks like there are a lot of photos from climbs though

not true, there are plenty of athletes in aerobars. but if the only station not on a climb didn't catch you it will look like you did the entire race upright.
