Help Me Train With POWER
So all I want to do is be able to train with power...

I'm riding a Giant Trinity Composite 2 (2012)
http://www.giant-bicycles.com/...9010/48845/#features

I was looking at Stages and 4iii crank based power meter (most affordable...right?), but neither are compatible with the stock crankset I am currently riding. So I was looking to get a 105 crankset so I could use either.

And what I don't know is...bottom brackets and what fits with this bike.
http://www.amazon.com/...pindle/dp/B00TBIHS4S <------------ currently in bike

Can I leave that and get a 105 crankset or do I need a different BB? Since that's press fit is threaded going to work?
Any help with this noobish questions?

You may be able to leave the BB. Shimano and FSA are nominally the same axle diameter but different tolerances mean that the reality can differ.
Threaded is not going to work.
This will work if FSA doesn't http://www.amazon.com/...-2&keywords=bb86

Or go for GXP BB86 to save some watts and get a Quarq Riken AL (also a better PM). Stages doesn't stack up so well on $ front if you have to buy a complete crank.

I think the vector S pedal is quite affordable and a no brainer to fit on any bike without crank compatibility issues

although u do need a torque wrench to get it installed properly and ur pretty much stuck with the cleat system it provides

Yea I am still considering the vector but from looking around I can get a new crankset for just over $100, so that and the 4iii would still be the more affordable option

I'm not sure the 4iii really works very well. I wouldn't recommend it, even though it is cheap.

Ok so I'm going for a stages powermeter with ultegra 172.5 crank arm... so just to make sure I got everything right before moving forward.

I am going to buy an ultegra crankset such as: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/...hainset/rp-prod39017 ..probably from somewhere else though

After contacting FSA they told me my current BB (FSA BB86 BB-AL86 Press Fit Bottom Bracket 19mm Spindle For OMEGA Road Crank) will not work with shimano drivetrain so instead I can use this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/...;utm_campaign=CRC007

And I'll be all set?

Thanks again everyone!

you need a head unit to display the power data like a garmin bike computer
