Hed GT3 Trispoke wheel

You can see the new Hed GT3 wheel here http://www.slowtwitch.com/...ke_-_day_2_4557.html

and other tri spoke versions here http://www.hedcycling.com/...content=H3D_Clincher

Here's my question: Why is HED the only one producing these style of wheels? If there is an advantage to them, why hasn't Zipp, Enve, Reynolds, etc. made one? What's so special about the tri spoke?

I figured someone on here has experience with these style of wheels

They aren't faster than the latest spoked wheels.

They may not be as fast, but they're the original sexy wheels (right behind Mad Fiber). They're still fast, just not the fastest.

I asked this back in 2008:

Come on, keep up!

.

Once, I was fast. But I got over it.

It's a niche product. They're faster at lower yaw and therefore more suited to time trialists/very fast triathletes. They're also damn near indestructible.

they are awesome wheels.
they were the leader for the longest time.
they have been developed slowly over time (think porsche 911).
they are still at or very near to the top of the heap, depending on what conditions you will be experiencing.
they still get used as a front wheel in many top tier TT's (TdF TT's). they are pretty much bombproof. they are cheap compared to just about anything else that compares with them.
they are uber cool looking.
they make a very distinctive sound when you ride them.
they make me look pro
Why only HED? ask HED. Corima makes a 4 and 5 spoke wheel I think.

Saw the rear was showcased at one of the recent shows.

Lets hope for a clincher (front) version for the next season

on the flip side 1500 is a bunch of money for a wheel

Why is an E type Jag beautifull, same reason the Hed 3's are.

They got it right and it's hard to make it much better
(ok maybe a little better, but not much better)

I love mine and the person I lent them to does as well.
(and there's almost nothing they can do to muck them up)

Interesting. I wonder if they'll actually sell those to the public and, if so, what they'll go for. They appear to be deeper than the GT3.
