This shot doesn't look right. If this was taken with the north of the island is at the bottom of the picture then that would be Mauna Kea erupting because of where Kona is labeled on this picture. If this is a shot like if you are looking at a map then Konan and Queen K that goes to Hawi should be on the left of the picture. Either way that's a lot of smoke that can cover the sun.

That is because that picture is just a very subtle, yet expertly crafted photoshop job.

I think it was a lottery winner who took and labeled the photo. They screw up everything.

To continue raining on this parade, the second image is a composite using an eruption from Mt. Sinabung in Indonesia and the third is Mt. Lokon, also in Indo.

Looks like the current situation and real to me.
