Guppy Challenge - Week 10 (final week!)
You'll find this week's sessions here.

This is it, the finishing kick! If you've made it this far, and done a good number of these workouts, I surely hope you're an improved swimmer. If not, I'm a rotten virtual swim coach! Post here and let me know how it went. Of course, many of you started late and that's fine, I know a lot of you are in week 3 or 7 or somewhere along the way.

For those who need this kind of structure, fear not. You have a 1-week respite and then we begin the Satisfaction Challenge. So, that's 2 weeks from today. Leave intervals will be on the 1:40, 1:50 and 2min.

For those of you who missed the beginning of this challenge, you can start now. Here are the workouts to date:

Late to the party here, but a quick question - can you explain what a "semi" catch-up drill is? I know what a catch-up drill is...so is a "semi" just starting your catch a bit before your recovering hand reaches your extended hand?

yes. semi catch up is how it is we all ought to swim. what starts as a drill becomes eventual proper technique.

Thanks for posting these workouts! It really helped me to have a plan every day. I missed a few weeks around Christmas, so I'm still on week 8, but I'll finish just in time for the next series!

I did a 300 SCY test in 5:26 when I started the challenge in November and just repeated it today in 4:43. I know that's still Guppy territory, but a huge improvement for me, and I'm excited to keep swimming.

I'm pretty new to triathlon, coming to it from running, so my bike is mediocre, and my swim is pathetic. I needed a way to to improve my swimming, and saw the Guppy Challenge posts. I'm only competitive if there is a competition, so it seemed like a good way to get me to the pool as often as possible.
I wound up doing 46 workouts in the ten weeks, more than 70,000m. I followed the program fairly closely for the first seven weeks, and then spent the last weeks working on the problems that were revealed by the video my wife shot.
My speed increased dramatically- I think I took more than 15 sec/100m off my time (starting at "very slow" has some advantages. My low hanging fruit could be tripped over). My endurance increased as well. I'm only scheduled for sprint and olympic distances this year, so I'm in a much better position for this season.
It took a while, but I can now do something that resembles dolphin kick. The superman back kick drill still causes problems, mostly due to a crowded pool, and my flip turns are almost not there at all.
I've continued to swim regularly, and now have a good assortment of drills to keep me busy.

I may be wrong, but I'm 90% sure it ended up being called the "Tarpon Challenge".

If you Google "Slowtwitch Tarpon Challenge", it'll bring up all the workouts (though they may have changed since then...)
