i guess this challenge will suit him well and being a guy with a sub 4.20 iroman bike split and a sub 4.28 kona bike split he has the tools and he is a very strong diesel engine guy.
Awesome. Will try to head past on the way back from Mornington and give him the support he deserves.
I hope he sorts out his clothing though, and at the very least slaps a disc wheel on the back. He's throwing watts away which will cost him kilometres. 'It never gets easier, you just get crazier.'
Just a quick question/comment/general wondering. When does one become a former Ironman? Is there a time limit or expiry date? How long after my last event may I call myself a current ironman?
Discuss.
Seriously though, looks awesomely ambitious. I wish him well, and no wind.
These 'World Record' attempts do make me laugh.....
A race organiser last year was claiming Dede Griesbauer to have broken the 'Unofficial' 12 hour record. Now we have a similar claim.
Only problem is Beryl Burton rode 277.25 miles (446km) back in 1967 - on a standard (at the time) road bike. And plenty of people have broke the new distance since.

:)
I asked Mitch where he got the figure. It's the UltraMarathon Cycling 12 hour outdoor track distance record. https://www.ultracycling.com/record/12-hour-Outdoor-Track-Marko-Baloh/
I would totally agree Still it was always a pleasure to see mitch cycling and I don't see many kiwis that would outcyle him ;)

Luckily I'm an Englishman brought up on 10mile TT's ☺️
Joking aside, he's clearly a hammer on the bike and it looks like a fun event to be involved with. But the notion of creating your own world record distance ( or an organistion doing so in this instance) when its been beat 50 years ago on drop bars, clips, straps, and Brooks saddles....is quite amusing. http://www.sweat7.com Facebook Page: Sweat7 Twitter: @sweat7coaching
