I think most people expect them to have carbon wheels now...but my hope is that they will still make the clincher aluminum version because I don't want to worry about special brake pads and all that. I like to keep things simple.

My predictions are full carbon or structural carbon with aluminum brake track (I assume that's what you mean).

Although it looks like new wheels, I've always thought custom cockpit designs (a la TriRig) made sense for these guys. Wonder if they'll put out a full carbon disc too?

My Lame Prediction:

Full carbon rim (finally!), with a shape optimized for a certain yaw angle (hopefully LOW < 7°), for $1,200 a set. Also released with a white paper showing how it compares to other wheels, at whatever this optimized yaw angle is. And pictures of wind tunnel smoke.

From the teaser videos it is clearly a carbon clincher wheel.

That HED patent though....

Is it? Their current wheels, AND Hed Jet+ Black wheels for that matter, look just like that with a black brake track and all.

I couldn't tell you how many times people have thought I'm riding "all carbon" clinchers.

IMO, if they DO go the all-carbon route, I truly hope that they do something to retain the excellent braking properties of aluminum based brake tracks.

I highly doubt it is full carbon wheels. I am guessing it is the conclusion of their testing of tires that they stared last year but never released results for.

If you read their blog you recall them building some apparatus on the front of the bike to account for wind and then trying to determine which tire was more aero and had the least rolling resistance. They never posted conclusive results, I am guessing tomorrow they will report their findings.

Disc brake wheels.

I'm sure they're smarter than that...

Hoping for a brake track that stays black. Maybe with texture.

I sold my Flos because I'm vain and am not a fan of how the brake tracks look. If they sold the 30's with a turbine-esque brake track (and made them so you could actually mount tires), those things would be killer.

The 30 really is the "hot nerd" of their lineup.

$200k electromagnetic doped wheels?

Or perhaps just the ability to order a regular wheel whenever I please?

He didn't say "aero disc wheels." Disc wheels are great for CX, etc.

I could be wrong but it looks like the nipples are outside of the carbon which is different than that they had before being under the fairing.

It probably just looks like it cant tell for sure.

They make a deal with HED? I mean, it's tested in a wind tunnel with the tyres on...
