I'm considering purchasing a Felt B14 or B16 as my first triathlon bike. I've been racing tris for about three years and have done about a 10 sprints and olympic distance races and one 70.3 distance. All of these races have been on my road bike. Next year I'm planning my first 140.6 distance race and have talked myself into finally purchasing a triathlon bike. My budget is about $2,200. I'm currently living in Berlin and the European prices, with VAT, are pretty steep. I can get either a 2014 Felt B14 or B16 online and shipped for about $2,000. I plan on getting a professional bike fit once I have the bike, but I am not sure what size to order. I think I need a 54cm or 56cm frame, but hope to draw on some of the ST experience. I value comfort over an aggressive position. (I'm 42 and not as flexible as I used to be.)

I know that I'll probably get chastised for not getting a proper bike fit before hand, but I want to weigh all of of my options. I've looked all over Berlin and can't find any 2014 models left. I was in a reputable tri shop in Berlin a few weeks ago and the salesman was adamant that I needed a 54cm, which seems small to me. (He didn't have either a 54cm or 56cm in stock for me to test ride.) The salesman, who I know is a bike fitter also, based his opinion on just looking at my height and body style.

Any advice on size?

I'd also be interested in any advice on the B14 over the B16, also.
