most signs are pointing to the new vittoria speed's being very quick readily available options.
Veloflex Records, Conti Pro ltd's (have to have a source) and older Chrono's are all good tires as well.

Corsa Speed with some orange seal, they're race wheels, you have to take some risk. They offer more protection then the Crono.

It would be great if they made the Vittoria Corsa Speed tubular in a 25 or 28, but only a 23 so far, so I wont be trying it.

I'm using the vittorias, i've raced a 70.3 with it no problem...

I went with Vittoria's as well. Did a little research plus found a smokin deal.

Would you trust Corsa Speed for the rough roads of Lake Placid ? Some parts of the course are quite rough.

Or should I choose Zipp SL Speed ? They offer a 27, but maybe they're too wide for my Hed Stinger 9s? The 24 might fit better ?

rough roads? what does that have to do with it. Tubulars I have found feel better on rough roads.

Zipps newer tubies arent great in race and you always stand that chance on race day which is important for most triathletes since cornering even when dry can be an issue.

I like the Veloflex tires for all around I run their carbon 23 up front and arlenburg (sp) 25 in back. great tires better longevity compared to vittorias .

Rough roads = higher risk of flatting with lighter tubulars, no ?

less chance than clinchers, rough roads dont cause flats unless hit a pot hole which in most cases you gonna flat but with a tubular chances less than clincher

I have. They're an aero disaster.

Used Corsa Speeds at 50psi on Monday around the crap roads of Cheshire. Super comfy and set a PB on the course.

x2 on Corsa Speeds. I had a disaster of a day in terms of power - 50W down from expected - but still managed a good time (though not a PR). Comfy too.

sorry I meant rain, I have seen lots of people slid out in rainly crits or road races. In rain they suck. read reviews others say same.

That sucks cause I really like them, what size did you try the 24 or 27 and on what wheels ?

Im using the 27s on my Reynolds Aero 58 / 72 wheels.... Great wheels by the way.

I have read and heard that the OLD Zipp tires suck in the wet, but I have not heard that at all about the NEW ones.

24c on a Stinger 9, and that was against 22c Cronos, so Speeds would be even better.
