Fast Race Day Running Shoes--Recommendations?
Hey guys,

I've been running races in my training shoes, Adidas glide boost 6. They're great but give me blisters when I run without socks and wet feet and they're a little heavy. I'm looking around for new race day shoes. Does anyone have recommendations for what worked for them?

--neutral runner
--10 oz shoes or less
--snug when running without socks
--comfortable, good support shoe

Any recs would be appreciated! Happy training!

I've been training in the Adidas Energy Boost shoes this season, and recently added a pair of the Adios Boost for a lighter weight option. Basically a racing flat with the Boost midsole. So far so good.

Can't comment on the sockless compatibility question though. Haven't tried it.

Adios Boost is the natural recommendation but I personally think they're too stiff and use them for faster training rather than racing. I look them and the Glide Boost though. My recommendation is the Asics Hyperspeed 6. Hands down my favorite shoe, and its finally seamless (or near) in the upper. Asics is coming out with a tri version (standard drainage holes/speed lace stuff) called the Hypertri I think in January.

EDIT: Adios Boost has a rough upper also. Probably not a great sockless shoe but havent actually tested that myself

Agreed, I only use them to race and I ditch them at about 80-100 miles (1 season). Regardless, I continue to use them because I like them so much during the race (lube the insoles up if you dump a bunch of water on yourself and go sockless).
