FLO 60 / Disk combo came in today!
Pretty excited aside one problem...

Is the disk supposed to come with a Casette?
It looked like it on the order I placed.

Rookie with wheel orders so I'm not 100% sure.

If not I'll just go to my lbs and drop the 100$ on an 11 SPD ultegra casette.

Wow, you are a rookie :)

No cassette. Sometimes a wheel seller will offer a cassette as an option (Soul Wheels and Williams come to mind) at an extra cost. Flo doesn't do that.

Since you are such a rookie, remember that the hub is an 11 speed version. If you are getting a 10 speed cassette (likely) don't lose or through away the adapter Flo included.

Rookie or not.

There was an additional 35$ charge when I rang out.

Please see imgur link below and you'll see why I was confused.

The $35 is for the 11 speed compatible hub.

Yes, definitely a rookie.

And, if it did come with one, what would It come with. I want an Ultegra 11-28 11 speed. My son wants an 11-25 dura-ace 10 speed, my other son wants an 11-36 105 10 speed. And, the cost of these varies from around $50 to $350

People aren't usually very particular about their rim tape so that is included and while not a nice Vittoria cloth I'd normally use, the plastic seems fine.

the wheel can come with a freehub that is compatible with various cassette standards, that is what the line item is mentioning.

not sure what the $35 charge was about though

Those guys from FLO are great.

Just emailed me back. Refunded my 30$ cause it was an error.
Explained the situation for me.

Too notch niceness. I'll have to get a 90 rear from them windy races!

Did they only offer 11 speed discs in the last order?

No this was an option I had to select.

I'm rolling the most recent 7.5 series speed concept. So its an 11 speed 6800 if memory isn't failing me.

Rim depth of the front wheel matters in the wind, not the rear wheel.

Guess I need to reconsider.

I have been riding stock wheels while I've been racing so this is my ignorance but I just figured the disk being solid its more likely to get twitchy in the crosswinds and a 90 would allow more air to pass and not catch as much.

Are you saying a 60/60 combo is safer / smarter?

I think it's a common misconception. I thought the same, but have since learned otherwise (there are quite a few threads on ST discussing this). A 90/disc combo is fastest. I race at about 140 pounds and the wind will blow me all over the road, so I have a 60/disc for that reason. I'll still get blown around a bit with the 60, but am comfortable with it.

Here comes flamefest and all the backdoor braggers.

Do your research on FLO and you'll see why I waited a year and saved $1000s on getting what I bought.

The zipp disc is lighter.
The FLO is more aero.
That is all that is factual.

Now. If you're concerned about grams.
I personally think you take a crap on race day. You're set regardless.

I'm about 175-185 race weight at 6'4".

I'll ride with what I have and feel it out.

Good info though.

IM Cozumel doesn't allow discs. I've been there and the side winds can be pretty strong and of course gusty. But, I notice the push on my front 60 way more than my rear 90. And, even at 180 pounds, I get pushed around at higher winds, especially when gusty. When out riding the Tri bike in any kind of wind, I take more of the road than I would on my road bike as I have the 60/90 combo mounted on my Tri bike all the time.

Anyway, I've always wondered why IMCoz says no rear discs when it is the front wheel depth that really causes you to get pushed around. If I were riding there I would likely take a 30 front as my deepest wheel, maybe just the training wheel for the front.

I assume that's the rim tape? Mine didn't come wrapped up like that, it was just loose in the box. But if each has a single pencil-sized hole, that's the rim tape.

I bought from them but this is a heavily debated topic that I want nothing to be apart of. Its like a tri holy war.

If you have an unlimited budget. I'd get coaching and too of the line wheels.

I don't have unlimited funds. So I'll get a cheaper coach and the best wheels I can afford.

I'm not going to tell you what to buy. That's why you gotta do some research. But the hard thing with flo. They only are on sale for a day a month.

Looks like rim tape. For installation help, you should do a Google search for "how to perform a great rim job". Do this on your work computer if possible.

FYI, they have this video, if it helps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTQiZVRFaZg

I'm snipped, so my rubber days are fortunately behind me. But for tires, I run Conti GP4000s.

I've had nothing but good luck with the FLO wheels, and even have a set of 30s as my main training wheel. Zero flats in 16+ months of riding nothing but FLOs, using the rim tape they provide. You've already experienced their great customer service. Good luck with yours.

Hahaha
Pretty solid. Is it strange that I put lamce Armstrong in the search and he's in the video?
