EFS Liquid Shot

I'm about to give 1st Endurance a try. For those who have used their Liquid Shot, is it designed more to be used as a stand alone product or to be used as a mix with their EFS drink in a bottle?

Same as a gel.
Equivalent to 4 gels in one bottle.

I used as stand alone. I found first endurance products to be very good for me. I struggled with nutrition my last 2 IM races, I gave FE a try and it did wonders for my performance. I am a big fan.
PS. Vanilla is my favorite.

Big fan of First Endurance products as well, especially EFS. I started using the liquid shots a few months ago and I'm glad I took a friend's recommendation. I personally use the vanilla flavor mixed in w/ orange EFS, water and just a little bit of orange gatorade, would definitely recommend. I pick mine up on Amazon, since I'm a Prime member.

It's a good product, and easy to digest, especially vanilla.
However, just like gels, it can be hell on your teeth. Be sure to drink water, and brush after wards. seriously. I had my first cavity in years after using the stuff (along with gels).

Awesome line of products. I either currently use or have used all of their products except the PreRace. You should also email questions directly to FE... they are typically quite responsive. They will tell you their products work best together (and I believe that), however they are also
very good
as stand-alone's as well.
I use 4oz of the Liquid Shot in their 4oz flask with about 1oz of water to dilute. I also use 1-2 scopes of EFS Drink in a standard water bottle depending on the weather/conditions of the day and length/intensity of ride.
For example, I raced a 70.3 on Sunday with a forecast of 90* and t-storms. Pre-race I have a small breakfast about 2 hours before race start and slowly sip water and Liquid Shot up 'till race start. On the bike I finished 4oz of Liquid Shot (400 calories), 200 calories (two scoops) of EFS Drink, 200 calories of "other" nutrition, and about three small bottles of water (hand-ups). On the run I use another 4oz flask of Liquid Shot and a small 7oz Fuel Belt bottle both tucked into my shorts. The 7oz bottle contains a
super
heavy/potent dose of EFS drink... essentially 1 whole scoop in only a 7oz bottle. I use this basically as a shot of minerals/electrolytes and immediately wash it down with aid station water. I pee'd during the swim (no wetsuits) and once at about mile 45 or so on the bike.
On the run I finished 400 calories of Liquid Shot, 100 calories of EFS Drink, about 100 calories of gummi bears (personal treat), some coke, and
tons
of water. At race end I use two scoops of Ultragen as my recovery drink.
I PR'd the bike, but was a little disappointed with my run time, as I matched (to the minute) my last PR... however, I am positive that had
nothing
to do with my nutrition. The only thing I will likely change is to have 8oz of Liquid Shot on the bike instead of 4oz. I have done that for my last two 70.3's and tried something different this time. I didn't feel under-nourished, but I feel like I should have at least 1000 calories on the bike.
I also use OptygenHP (1/2 recommended dose), however I think I am going to skip it in my next order as it
very
expensive.

As another poster mentioned, it can be used as a stand alone or combined with EFS drink. It will all depend on your caloric needs for each race length. You can mix the combinations however you like. The one thing FE will tell you is that you should chase the Liquid Shot with straight water as opposed to EFS drink. The concentration will be too high and could cause GI distress.
I race all the way up to 140.6 using only EFS Liquid Shot and EFS Drink with zero GI issues. FIrst Endurance makes a fantastic product. Or at least my stomach says so!

Have been on First Endurance this year and absolutely loving it! Try the Kona Mocha flavor which is amazing! Only thing i could recommend they add to the lineup is a low or zero calorie electrolyte tablets. Hopefully that will be the next thing to come out from them!

Vanilla Liquid Shot and on-course liquids is how I roll.
For long races, I either fill a standard water bottle with 10 oz of liquid shot or I stick 2 flasks in a jersey pocket.
I did not like the berry flavor (tastes like robitussin).

I got a few of them from a friend. Tried one on a 1-hour mountain climb on an 80-mile ride. The fact that it's 400 calories or so is great. The only setback for me is price, so I save them for the really long rides

I know u heart me, but I have been told by mrs Duffy that the vanilla EFS tastes like sperm.

I know that Mrs. Duffy is a good Iowa girl so I do wonder how she knows! :). And now Mrs. Coopdog is wondering what the hell I was laughing at.
I do need to change my sig line, kinda played out.

I mix 2 x 5oz shots with 10oz water in a 20oz bottle as my first drink on the bike. 800 cals, goes a long way! I use kona mocha flavor, tastes pretty good to me (but quite rich)

awesome products from a company that uses reputable manufacturing plants. Agree that the berry is disgusting. Have not tried mocha yet - next order but the vanilla is great - I use that and EFS in one bottle, water in the other on long races/training

I recently picked up kona mocha and vanilla because of all the talk about them here on the forum. Used them straight with a water chaser on a couple of cycling group rides. No stomach issues but man are they sweet (50 grams!). I'm not used to simple sugars, I eat pretty clean and usually train and race with Hammer products which have a subtle sweetness. Maybe I'll mix the EFS in water for my next ride.

I'm thinking about doing this for my next ironman. Care to give an example of how you do it. Mostly trying to figure out how to get extra EFS powder in my bottles. I figure start out with two then have two more waiting for me in my special needs?
thanks

I was planning on starting with one bottle w three scoops efs and two scoops malto for about 500 cals and one flask of liquid shot for an additional 400 cals. I'll have the exact same thing in special needs to bring the totals to 1800 calories and just grab water from the aid stations. I did this for a half (minus special needs obviously) and it was perfect. I'll also probably have a couple of roctane gels to change up the flavour and top the caffeine up. I prefer the vanilla liquid shot with Kona mocha being a close second

They have good products. However for the life of me I couldn't tolerate the taste of the vanilla or grape shots. They even taste worst dilluted in water. I am going to give the mocha a try and hopefully I will like it. I do like their EFS orange and I am using it right now for some of my workouts. (maybe I should try the vanilla with oragne mix) Their products seem to sit well in my stomach for the longer events so I am thinking of mixing the mocha with vanilla efs to make an 800cal mix for my IM later this year.
I do like their vitamins. I have been taking 1 capsule (instead of the recommended 3) and haven't had cold all year. I can't attribute it to their vitamins but something seems to be working.

I've been trying to figure out the amount of scoops during training and hopefully figure it out in the next week or so and stick with it. I will also grab some gu's to change it up since they are on the course now.

FWIW here was my plan for CDA
Pre-Race: Big breakfast along with 1 bottle w/2 scoops EFS drink (Grape)
Swim: Lots of lake water....not part of the plan...
Bike: Started with one bottle of EFS (grape) w/2 scoops and one bottle magic potion (Coke). Every half hour: One squirt of EFS shot, one salt tab, 20 oz water. I used about 3.5 EFS shot bottles on the bike along with the EFS drink and coke, I got in about 1700-1800 calories on the bike. I carried 2 EFS shot bottles in my bento, 1 in my tri top pocket and 1 in special needs.
Run: 1/2 bottle of EFS shot over the first 6 miles, the rest of the way coke and water only.
I have done CDA for the past 3 years, this year I had no GI issues, the past 2 years I had serious problems. This was the first year I used FE products. YMMV.
I will say I practiced this formula the last 4 long rides I did and it did take some time to get right for my stomach.
If you want to use the powder, it does come in packets, but that would be hard to mix on course, the other option is special needs as you have mentioned.
