Cover or don't cover? It seems like there would be drag (very minimal...but there none the less) by leaving the valve stem opening uncovered. If there was any drag at all, why not just cover it??

It has been discussed here several times. The benefits are probably very small and almost immaterial but there's also very little effort involved so why not?!?

Potentially big risk for immeasurably small reward.

You might nick yourself with the serrated edge of the packing tape dispenser. :-)

Yeah, I was wondering what the downside of covering might be. Papercuts should be taken seriously! And then therre's the cost of the sticker to be considered...

Everyone's got jokes, I see.
Twice I've arrived in T2 to find a loose decal had been flapping on my disc.
If you air up race morning, adhesives don't like dew or humidity.
The first time I thought it may be user error
The second time was enough for me to ditch the idea.
And you don't have to dig much to read a lot of smart people saying there is no detectable benefit.

Does that edge look like paper to you? That's a lethal weapon in the proper hands. Respect it!!!

For me, that extra 30 seconds on race morning is better spent in the port-o-potty.
I cover if I remember, but if I forget I don't stress about it.

If there is too much dew I skip, if it is dry I toss one of those one.

I tape to keep it clean inside the wheel. Don't want any debris to get in there.

I cut a bunch of custom size pieces from a roll of this. $10 for a 10 foot by 1 foot sections. Sticks very well even when a little wet but still comes off clean. No faster then a piece of tape but it looks better IMO

We actually just ordered a vinyl plotter at work this morning, so not only will I be making ridiculous stickers all the time now but will have access to all the scraps for my valve stem hole.
