Dig Me Beach This Morning - Wow!
Wow! Check out what famous Dig Me Beach in Kailua-Kona looked like this morning at 6:30am - Traditional Start Time for the IRONMAN World Championships - https://www.facebook.com/...p;type=3&theater

Monsoon rain, high winds, a high tide and a storm surge!

My wife is still over there, wrapping up a training camp with a client and starting the trip home later today!

There's already talk of possible cancellations at KOA today and I am getting reports via my weather app on my phone for Kailua-Kona, (sitting here at home in Aurora, ON) of Flash Flooding and possible landslides in the area. A quick news-check and their are major power-outages on the Big Island and on Maui.

I hope everyone over there is OK!

My wife texted me that picture, and said, that it's doubtful they could have had a swim today, or maybe any race in Kona the conditions were so bad!

The part of me that believes that disorder in our lives builds character would -love- to see that happen on race morning.

Xterra could be interesting this weekend, but it won't be because of rain (though the course should be pretty damned muddy, so there's that).

It could be interesting because there's a huge NW swell headed towards Hawaii, which is scheduled to arrive Friday into Saturday.

It's a giant enough swell that things could get really interesting for the swim. I don't know if it will have enough west to it to really get into D.T. Fleming Beach, but if it does . . .
