DA9000 mech shifting issue
I've not got a lot of miles on this bike yet....maybe 200, but this issue has happened twice and it would suck if it happened in a race.

Last night while riding and just trying to ramp into my second 20 minute interval I went to shift to the big ring and it wouldn't go! Generally this shift is like butter. The feeling is that the actual shifter is hanging up or locking me out of the last click to the big ring. I know basically nothing about brifter internals so don't know if I should be checking something or what? It was professionally cabled about 200 miles back. Again....this has happened 2 times to me and for some reason after like 20 attempts all of a sudden it's shifting like butter again. Everything seems to be in perfect tune. I probably shifted it back and forth 25 times last night after the incident with a flawless shift each time.

Thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

9000 front derailleur relies more on cable tension than many other front derailleurs.
It needs more tension.
It is likely that cables stretched and/or housings compressed/seated.
Probably just needs more tension.

So without enough tension the brifter may not click over to the big ring position?

Correct, and it will not perform the trim function as it should.
