May be coming to the Dallas FW area for a while in Oct-Nov and I am curious about the road riding there. I am potantially staying near Dallas Fort Worth International Airport on the west side. Anyone know what the riding is like in that area?

I'm in east dallas, but the routes up around Grapevine/Flower Mound/Argyle area are some of the best in the metroplex. Hopefully, someone that knows the routes & group rides better than me will chime in.
there's also a loop around the airport itself that some groups ride: http://www.mapmyride.com/...t-loop-route-5930292

Fantastic. Anyone else from Dallas FW want to add their two cents?

I know there is the airport loop, http://www.mapmyride.com/...t-loop-route-5930292. Never ridden it but know several people who will ride from grapevine up and around the airport and back.
Unfortunately don't know how to connect that with the routes i've ridden in Grapevine/south lake area

There are almost daily group rides out of Grapevine and Flower Mound. They will get you out of the suburbs/city streets and on to some open roads. Depending on your ability level check these options out.
Mad Duck Cyclery: http://www.madducksports.com/page22/index.html can be a very good fast weekend ride that leaves from their shop in Grapevine and goes out through Flower Mound. I believe they have midweek rides as well.
Lifetime in Flower Mound. You don't need to be a Lifetime member to do their group rides. Sat/Sun AM. 3 different groups (A,B,C). That usually get 20-40 riders each. The A group can be very fast and fun. Very active cycle club. The people there can let you know where mid-week rides that aren't associated with Lifetime start. There are really good Wed, Thurs, Sat am options.

Excellent info gang. I have a Road Cat 2 license so I would be interested in some fast rides, but more so I am looking for nice, safe cycling routes in that area of the Metroplex.

Head to Flower Mound.
Wednesday night KOW ride.
Sunday am Lifetime A ride.
Saturday am DMS long ride (70-100)
or
Saturday AM Mad Duck ride
I'm sure there are plenty of other fast rides in the area but these are the ones I'm familiar with.

I live on the north side of Dallas so I'm not too familiar with riding routes west of the airport. My two initial suggestions have already been mentioned, but I will second them! The loop around the airport that is pretty popular and Mad Duck has some fast rides (I have never done those myself though). There is also a Playtri location in Colleyville and a couple Bikes Inc locations in that direction. They might do some group rides and be convenient to where you're staying.
If you need any bike work while you're here Bicycles Plus in Coppell is a great shop. They also have assorted rides, some of which are pretty quick.
I do this route out of Coppell that is pretty popular - especially the part north of 121 (approx miles 31-67). I believe Dallas Athletes ride from the same location on Saturday mornings as well.

Are there any group rides in the Grand Prairie area?

I'm on the east side of town, so I don't know Grand Prarie very well. Its close to Cedar Hill & Joe Pool Lake, which I've riden a loop around. There are some good hilly roads on the east side of that lake. I think B&B Bicycles has some group rides out there. From a quick google, it looks like they have a Saturday ride listed: http://bbbicycles.com/...cling-club-pg420.htm
I did a group ride down there once with a couple friends. It was a Sunday morning ride with Hilltop Bicycle Repair. Nothing is listed on their site, but worth a call to see if they have anything going on.
