Crowie spotted with a P4 in Las Vegas
Crowie showed up quite late at the bike check-in in Las Vegas and he was rolling in a Cervelo P4 with the logos covered.

finally the talent is mated with technology.

slowtwitch rejoices!

hopefully well see him rockin the aero helmet. someone needs to sneak in and peel the dura ace decals off and slap them onto an 808 firecrest and hell be set.

How can you tell it is a P4? There aren't any logos.

It's only a 70.3, but I wonder if he'll lose the rear bottles in Kona as well? If I remember seeing somewhere, he relies on his own nutrition on the bike though?

He did IMCDA with only 2 bottles, no rear hydration, so there is hope!

Am I imagining things Herbert...

I'm sure someone else posted this about an hour ago, and there was discussion about it.... and I replied on the thread, and now I can't find that thread?

Am I going crazy....

Did you delete an entire thread because of a link to an external site?!

Craig has signed a lifetime contract with Orbea (did so last year) so VERY interesting!!

Really delete a whole thread because of an external link- sounds like ST is getting in the spirit of the Chinese with the WCS final on this weekend. A little bit OTT!

Be very awkward if Crowie has a really good bike ride tomorrow!

To restate what I said in the thread that no longer exists, if he nose rides with the saddle in that position, then he is going to ride very steep.

there's still the aero helmet and 808 FCs to contend with.

Interesting, but what's the story behind the bike change?

Is Orbea still his bike sponsor?

Does he have no bike sponsor?

Or ?

The only explanation I could think of is that perhaps his Orbea was damaged in transit to the race and he had to get a spare on short notice, and the only bike he could get was a Cervelo. Does Cervelo still rent out bikes for IM and 70.3 races?

Again this is a total assumption and speculation... it's what the Internet is best used for haha

What exactly is a "lifetime contract" for an athlete?

Any external info or link about this agreement between him and orbea?

That's exactly what I was thinking. However, getting a loaner with Di2 seems strange.

For the sake of discussion, should he use the P4, Aerolid, no rear hydration, and 808 FCs at kona -- will that give him the 4 minutes +- he needs on the bike to win it on the run?

Crowie is still listed as their signature sponsored triathlete on the orbea.com website. Damage to his bike seems the only logically reasoning behind this move. However, I expect a world champion and Orbea to have backup plans for any type of circumstances (damage, stolen etc). Did Crowie not address this during the press conference? If no, then very interesting move; that opens up speculation.

Not really, he could have just had everything switched over... measurements, components, wheels... etc. That would take about half a day? Again... all speculation but if the frame was damaged he could just switch everything else over.

Thank you speculation for entertaining my Sunday AM.... along with 4 different huge races to track!
