The top tubes match, as well as the seat stays and the big one is the small point where the seat stays meet the frame just above the wheel. you can barely make it out but this is unique to the Shiv

Looks more like an Orbea than a Cervelo though. Seatpost looks like an Ordu. But cables going in on the top tube would be a new feature...finally. Not a Speed Concept :)

tough to say, it seems to me the fact that the rideharder guy posted on this thread; his only previous post was when the Avanti bik was introduced:

Very good point. I re-read his comment:

Quote:
Saw him out on the Queen K today. Rumour has it that he has a new bike sponsor and a huge boost of confidence. He was def looking good out there. I reckon his new bike is def faster than anything else he has ridden. Should be a winner ;)

and based on it, it seems that he knows something that we don't ...

indeed, such an infrequent poster is likely attached to the brand; I doubt after 22 pages of Crowie debate he just could help but get involved. Unless of course, it involved the only other thread he has posted about.

Or maybe the secret package Specialized had at Interbike that was set to be "delivered" at Kona?

The BB looks like an orbea. I don't think that is a Shiv. Basebar is different too. Defintely running Di2.

Are we POSITIVE that is Crowie? Doesn't he usually use a dual bottle Xlab?

I looked at the Avanti Project EvoII and it looks a lot like Shiv, which explains the resemblance to Shiv from the picture.

This thread is like a soap opera, at 23 pages of replies and I'm enjoying it! Clearly I have too much free time on my hands.

Do the seat stays on the Shiv curve in that much? Don't they go "straight" then "flair out" like the Transition?

And it's not a 2011 Ordu, fork is too thin and the rear brake is integrated in the pic or underneath.

It could still be the P4. The BB area is way to fuzzy to see what is going on there, but the lack of a rear visible brake, the thin fork, the flat top tube (which the P4 does have a slight flattening affect towards the seat post), and what looks like drop backs instead of drop outs. The curve of the seat stays. Looks a lot like the P4 Evo.

I did not say he would be on a Cervelo in Kona. I did tell a colleague in confidence he MIGHT be on something (and he, regrettably, spoke of it incorrectly on some podcast).

Sorry Jay, I swear it was on the enduranceplanet podcast with Tawnee Prezak (sp?) and yourself, but, miraculously said podcast is no longer there. Sorry buddy! I stand corrected.

I don't think it looks like a P4 either:

Check out the Avanti site, that bike looks a lot like the bike in the picture. Look at the BB area.

Re: Crowie spotted with a P4 in Las Vegas [Doru] [In reply to] Quote | Reply

Not a P4. Not a Shiv. I blew the photo up and of the possible culprits thus far, it is most likely the Avanti...top tube, seat stays, bottom bracket, and downtube details are all fairly clearly from that bike. The bottle behind the saddle obscures the seatpost detail which would pretty much seal the deal for me, if it were the same.

I wasn't going to play, but it's a fun little "Where's Waldo" distraction....so that's my guess.

If it's a Shiv, I'll eat my hat. I'm that sure it's not...unless it's Rappstar's super-secret black box rig....

I suspect to see a few different things in Crowie's set up this year, the bike being the biggest one. I get the impression he is leaving nothing to chance, and the dual rear bottle will be gone, along with his old bike. Maybe he will even rock an aero helmet!? I am impressed with how much lower his riding position appears to be, next to Lieto (but its hard to really judge in that photo).

The seatpost seems to be secured in a fashion similar to the shiv as opposed to how the Avanti/SC are secured (a wedge of sorts). It looks like you can see bolts extending off the back of it just like on the shiv.

My guess is it's Specialized "new" Shiv with an easier to adjust front end.

You seem to know something that we don't. C'mon, tells us, is it the new Avanti Project EvoII?

Re: Crowie spotted with a P4 in Las Vegas [wsrobert] [In reply to] Quote | Reply

If he is now riding a Shiv as part of a big Specialized campaign, why would he then give all that free PR to Cervelo for riding the P4 in Vegas?
I can understand the rationale of not riding an Orbea as he wanted a performance gain, but then surely Vegas was the shakedown ride for Kona?
To change bikes again, after one ride seems a very high risk strategy on both a financial and performance basis

I swear I saw a photo of a bike on here with what looks like the same paint job.

Black, with a large grey stripe surrounded to two not as wide white stripes.
