Cozumel kona slot breakdown?
I see there are 40 slots available. Is there a breakdown of how many each category is getting? Friend of mine in th 45-49 female, looks like about 65 people in her cat, wondering how many...

Thx!

2 out of 40 is 5% of slots, and 69/2000 is 3.5% of the field (assuming 2000 starters). Will be interesting to see how some of these shake out for over/under allocation

about 1500 or so, just a guess but 45-49 is the second biggest group so likely 2 maybe 3.

Some interesting swim times at 43 min or so though, like to hear the details.

Awesome. Can't wait to see the discussion on how WTC is screwing up Kona slot allocations plus ruining the sport by having an Ironman with a current aided swim.

Point to point with generally prevailing current (plus a short up current leg)

Sorry to be a killjoy, but the downhill swim at Cozumel has been discussed to death, as had slot allocations within races and overall KQ slots per race dropping. You did miss the usual discussion about blatant drafting though.

Swim. Overbike. Walk.

I agree slot allocation has been discussed to death,

Thoughts on the swim were some at 43 minutes and others at 47-49 minutes….IE a bit of a gap. Not saying it means anything but curious to see how it unfolded.

I to had a friend in F45-49 that was in KQ contention. I used KNY's spreadsheet to come up with these numbers. I haven't gone back to check if the AG's that had 1-3 starters had at least one finisher to get the slot. I believe F50-54 and M50-54 were the next two to get slots if there is a reallocation.

isn't the break down done based on finisher and not starter ?

It is based on starters until an AG has a starter & no finisher. :-)

Pink? Maybe. Maybe not. You decide.

I notice F50-54 got 1 slot. As you have the file would you be so kind to tell me how many slots they would have received if there had been 39 total instead of 40? Thanks.

It is a question that Nelly Becerra Priego should be asking at awards today. Under what math does my AG get 2 slots when the race has 39 to give, but only 1 when the race has 40? Total slots increase, but my AG loses a slot? Walk me through the math on that one, please.

Man, I hate it when I'm right. (and yes I did just quote my own post.) I am, however, impressed with kny's tenacity. Man of the People.

It's a WTC rule... not USAT.

I didn't mean it literally. I've seen pros at Cozumel wearing that type of costume, no DQ's.

Not to be argumentative but it's completely against the rules at all WTC event, including Cozumel. No sleeves allowed for a non-wetsuit swim. Crowie got DQ'd a couple of years ago for it.
