Big congrats to Jack Cartwright. At IM Whistler he had to pull out of the course from severe hypothermia shaking like a leaf with his negative body fat. One week later he pulled it together in Boulder ....including an ST approved 4:43 bike split which brought him into T2 in 3rd and held off the chasers for 4th with a 9:52. Not an easy task going from sea level to altitude and hanging in with all the guys who are red blood cell rich already. Well done Jack. Hopefully there are 4 KQ slots in the age group!

Thanks Dev! It was a good day and I am glad to have had the chance to do a re-do after Whistler. The altitude really only hurt me on the swim (and hurt it badly). I enjoyed the bike course immensely but it was not nearly hilly enough for me, since I was almost never out of the aero bars. I have a few complaints about the race, but overall, the city, volunteers and race org were wonderful, and I want to thank mother nature for a cool dry day. :)
Austria may still happen, but it's a big ask as you can imagine...
Cheers mate!

How did you manage to get into Boulder on such short notice?

I had two options, the foundation, and through Endurance Sports Travel. I ended up taking the EST route.

So M35-39 outnumbered M40-44 at Boulder? I can't remember when I've seen M40-44 not be the biggest AG, but maybe it happens more than I thought.
Oh, and congrats Cpt Chaos.

Sylvan, I assume the slot allocation was based on number of non-wetsuit starters per age group. Any chance you can share those numbers?

They were listed on the sheet pasted on the side of the trailer at the awards ceremony. I glanced at the 40-44 AG and it showed 112 or something for the size. 35-39 was around 121 or so..
