Coach Recommendations - SF - East Bay
I'm looking for recommendations on coaches in the SF Bay Area, preferably in the east bay. Specifically in the tri-valley region. I would like some of my training to be with others, but I do enjoy my solo trainer sessions, as well as masters swim. I'm looking to be competitive in my age group in the next 2-3 years.

Don't know about specifically the tri-valley area, but if you're doing more long distance triathlon, TriForce in the East Bay (and greater Bay Area as a whole) has a pretty strong and diverse squad: http://www.triforceteam.com/ Both of the main coaches (Kevin and Rob) post here as well, though there handles escape me.

Hi, I am a fellow triathlete in the Bay Area. I cannot strongly recommend T3 and Torsten (http://torstentri.com/) enough. He lives in Marin, has a small group of athletes mostly in the Bay Area and is a great combination of analytical, personal, supportive and pushy. I have seen enough athletes from the ones you and others mention to wonder why they are struggling with race strategy in a race in a way to me indicates they are not prepared nor have a plan for the race that best suits them. We all have bad race days of course, but I have consistently seen racers who work with other coaches create race plans that are based on a theoretical ideal and not the actual athlete.

I have several decades of being a competitive athlete and I have learned things from Torsten about my body (and specifically my aerobic vs anaerobic capacity) that have fundamentally changed the way I train and plan races. Check him out.

2018 Races: IM Santa Rosa, Vineman Monte Rio, Lake Tahoe 70.3

I am coached by Matt Dixon and he has a squad in the Bay Area through his company, purplepatch fitness. While all of his coached sessions take place in San Francisco, there's a large Bay Area community so you can find athletes to train with whether you live in SF, Marin, East Bay or South Bay. I know athletes that live in Clayton, Pleasanton, Oakland which are purplepatch athletes and highly competitive, earning slots to worlds etc. across all distances.

Jay Ridgeway has ran a succesful program for quite a while. Now his daughter, Emily, has joined him since she has graduated from Mizzou. They are both super people, and have coached most every level.
