Clifton 4 Any blister issues?
I ran in the OG Clifton's and loved them, both the 2 and 3 gave me blisters on the insides of my arches and I never had blisters at all...ever. Wondering if anyone experienced the same? If so, have you tried the 4 any luck there?

1 and 3 we had very little problems with customers getting blisters at the arch just behind the big joint. 2 and 4 gave a lot of issues at that point. Send back all 4’s.

I had major issues with the 2's, but the 3's were fine for me. Absolutely loved the 1's and still have a treadmill only pair that has around 1000 miles on them. I really wish that Hoka would reissue those Clifton 1's - perfect shoe in my mind!!

Goes to show everyone is different. My order of preference so far has been:

2 - Absolutely loved them. Favorite shoe of all time.
1 - Really liked them. They were like magic. How could a shoe be that big yet so light?
3 - They're ok. Don't cause any issues. They just lack the "it" factor for me.
4 - Haven't tried them yet but will be my next pair of road shoes when I need some.

I think the 4s are the best ones yet, but I haven't had blisters with any of them.

Hey Hoka! :) Bring back Clifton 1, just make the toe box a tiny bit more rounded so it doesn't taper so severely toward the little toe. Clifton 1 was the best shoe ever. I still have one pair left. Bring it back. Call it whatever you'd like. Doesn't have to be Clifton. As long as it's back. Pleeeease.

I posted about this about a month or so ago. Clifton 4s are my first pair of Hokas. Ran 7.5m in them and started developing hot spots/blisters on the inside arch where the insole rubs. Still trying to figure out what the best solution is to fix this.

i think the fix is the same thing i did to my 3's that made them stop rubbing my arch and that was to just trim a little off the insert where it rubs the arch. Easy fix.

No issues with my 4's love them.

Has anyone found a shoe comparable to the Clifton 1 or 2? The 1 was good, the 2 was my favorite shoe of all time. Three never felt right and the 4 is ok, but heavy. I bought 8 pairs of the 2 when they were on close out. I’m down to my last pair and I’m pretty bummed. I’m hoping to find a good replacement shoe for next season.

One thing that I’ll add is that I saved the insoles from my Clifton 1’s and continue to use them. Much better and thinner insoles that latest iterations.

My first Cliftons were V3. I never got running blisters until I tried those Cliftons. It was blister city! I got off the Hoka bandwagon and I'm back using a different brand/model. So, while I didn't hang around long enough to attest to V4, the V3 was plenty bad for me.

I still have the 1's and the 2's and 3's. Maybe I'll try the insoles from the 1's and see if that works.

I've run in the Infinite & Arahi and the Hoka insole is very sharp on the arch. Replaced it and no more blisters.

I still have scars on my arches from using v3. When you compare the transition in that area to any other shoe competently made, you instantly see why it happens. The fact that they never got it right boggles my mind, but then again they never seemed to learn regarding toe boxes so what the hell.
Now I just use them for recovery runs so it's fine until they get fully retired to shoe heaven. And chicks dig scars.

Have been blessed with being able to run in a variety of shoes inclusive of many, many marathons and IM's without issues. Clifton 4's for me cause blisters. Made an otherwise pleasurable day at IMLP this year a real painful affair. Stuck with them to figure it out and it is ~80% due to sock liner and the rest fit in my case. Replacing insole helps a lot, but they are off the list for long stuff, like some others just recovery runs. Oddly enough it never show itself in training, but likely the sweat and moisture from swim and bike made the feet a little more susceptible.

My N=1

Ran 1 pair of Clifton 1 - no issues
Ran 4 pairs of Clifton 2 - no issues
Ran 1 pair of Clifton 3 - no real issues, but I also started running a pair of Clayton 2 at same time and these caused blisters inside the arch for me, or the combination of Clayton2/Clifton3 did. Although nothing to stop me from using them...

No idea yet on Clifton 4.

The only reason I ran more Clifton 2 tan the rest is because I found a great deal on them after 3 came out. Otherwise they're all almost the same to me... So far...

I noticed that there is still stock in a new color of the clifton 3's on hoka.com. I bought 4 pair of them. Any idea why Hoka would add a new Clifton 3 after they released the Clifton 4?

They're not calling it a Clifton though. As to the why, I have no idea. They're also having three (very) similar shoes at the same time around the Clayton. I don't get Hoka's strategy at all and in terms of economics it seems to my consumer mind like way too many SKUs, but hey.
Honestly I couldn't care less. I've steered away from Hoka to Saucony and plan on using the forthcoming Altra Duo (if it delivers as it seems it will) as my maxi cushioned trainer effectively retiring the Clifton 3 once and for all.

I think they know the 4 has real issues. I saw where there already coming out with a 5 in the spring I think.

The one I am referring to is called the Clifton 3. The color way showed up after the Clifton 4 was released and they still have every size available.

They were going to call it something else...C3 bottom with a slightly different shell. If you look at Runnignwarehouse's blog it was shown in that color but under a different name back in the early fall.

I honestly have no idea what they're thinking. They bring in the Clifton 4 and d/c Clifton 3. Then they announce the Napali (Clifton 3 with a better more conforming upper) for January 2018. Then out of nowhere they make the Clifton 3 available again with new colourways?
So they'll have Clifton 3, Clifton 4 and Napali at the same time. What a braintrust.

I have a pair of recent Cliftons, that I guess must be the 4 - they are my 3rd pair over the past few years

I did get a gnarly blister when I went for my first long run in them - at the junction between my arch and ball of my foot. I did a few more short runs and decided it was the insole and just trimmed a small bit off the hotspot and that solved it.

I wonder if it's the thick cushion underneath that makes it tough for Hoka to get insoles right? I had problems with my first pair (2?) that kept slipping out of place - I ended up buying some Superfeet insoles to put in those. I've never had blister problems with other shoes...
