Clear coat peeled on my carbon bike
My 2006 S-Works Tarmac had a bit of clear coat peel off on the seat stay inexplicably. Actually it's probably due to using protective tapes supplied by SKS for their fenders that seems to mar every frame I've owned.

Mostly I'm annoyed it's gone but do I have anything to really worry about? Can I respray it myself?

Chances are I can take it in to a place here in Pdx and have them respray it.

Thoughts?

no "worries" as far as riding it if the clear is coming off.

If it's not too big of a spot some nail polish will do the job touching up clear.

If it IS a big place and you aren't familiar around clearing... it's probably best just to have somebody do it. Shouldn't be a problem for much of any shop.

I'm in the same boat. 2009 Transition and the sticker from an ironman bike number peeled mine right off. I'd love to be able to clean it up but not sure how much of a chore that would be.

It is a one inch strip on my seat stay, maybe 1.5 inches.

Clear nail polish? Brilliant.. How long to dry?

Have you done this yourself?

Yeah it won't look perfect but it should be pretty good. I now use the little touchup "pens" from autozone/advance/whatever, but only because I had some for cars. (They're a bit more expensive)

A couple of hours should be good to dry unless it's really cold.
