My father and I will be "racing" the 70.3 for family bragging rights. Hopefully the swim will be calmer than last year!

I'm in for the full and Mrs. BX3 is also in for the full. She did it last year. We're both hoping for calm waters.

I'm in for my first full (or maybe it should be fool) distance. Just starting to get really excited because I've trained for this before, but injury has caused me to withdraw. Now I only have to make it about 2 more weeks without getting hurt!

I did the half in 2011 and 2013 and am on board for my first attempt at the full this year.

I am really looking forward to it. Indian summer and 90+ deg for the run is one of my biggest fears (knocking on wood)

Did the 1/2 in 2011 and 2013, wimping out and doing the Sprint this year. The only reason for that is the family wants to spend the day at the park.

It's a fun race and good luck to all those participating.

good shape...thanks

Generally, is the lake choppy or do we swim in a bay? I love open water...just wondering.

Well, there is a bay available, and they have used it for the swim before. However last year they swam on the open lake side, where the conditions were compared to the ocean. So come prepared for a rough swim.

They moved the swim to the bay in 2013 I believe, otherwise always in open water along Breaker Beach. Winds from the North are what cause the bigger waves. If no wind or from the South then the lake will be pancake flat.

The primary swim course is in a somewhat protected area of the lake, but the level of chop is highly dependent on the wind and the direction of the wind. I raced in 2012 with no wind and it was flat. In 2013, the wind was coming out of the Northeast and it created a ton of chop that morning and they moved the swim to the other side of the peninsula which faces the other direction and is very protected (but adds about a quarter mile to your transition run). The back-up swim takes you through a boat channel/marina area that can get a bit congested, but then takes you out into the bay where there may be a little chop and back into the protected boat area.

I love the primary swim course since it is a beautiful wide-open setting, but it's also nice that they have a back up option.

I will be there.

Not sure if my bike will be or not. Dealing with TriBike Transport has not been fun.

I am in for the full.
I did it last year, got muscle pain in my legs on bike, and finished when it was dark.
However, the early registration was ridiculously inexpensive, something like $300. I could not resist.

I hope a year later I am better swimmer, better cyclist, and better runner

Waves were fun.
