Nooooo kidding. A 70.3 is their best bet. I think AC 7.3 will be pretty huge. It will way out sell the full distance. People do not want to risk a bad experience with a full distance, but will take a flier on a half distance. Challenge needs to get away from the full distance until they are established in NA. Until then, build a great series of half iron distances with the Rev 3 merger on (and...a Toughman merger....just sayin').

Signage also indicated an improved swim course. Hope they don't bitch out and make it too easy. The swim last year was tough, had character, and wasn't your typical box swim.

2 loop swim.
Probably similar to AC's 1 mile. Steve said it's not being changed to satisfy those who thought it was too hard, changed for safety. Easier to watch 1.2 than 2.4

The hammonton loop is losing the "town" section. Business owners complained, so at 206, instead of turning left towards town, turn right and head to Wharton state forest. Less AC expressway

I'm sure the bike is not set in stone, anyone familiar with Delmo's races know he constantly looks for improvements.

they should put the run course through the empty halls of the shuttered casinos.

Putting the run course thru shuttered casinos is the single greatest idea anyone has ever come up with on ST

Anyone know when they will have signups open for it? I see signups for the full are open, but no word on the 1/2 being listed at Challenge's website, or at Challenge AC's website

Any word on how they intend to improve the racer v. pedestrian situation on the boardwalk?

I think they have a plan for that. He listened to everyone's criticisms. I "think" they plan to fence off the busy sections of the boardwalk. Again, none of this is definite. Just things he mentioned they working on. Also, early plan is 3loop boardwalk run. I'm sure all of this is subject to change. I have no doubt year 2 will have MUCH better reviews than year 1.

Definitely thinking about this one for my 1st 70.3?

I was looking at the course maps, Am I looking at it wrong or are they going to try and do the final turn around at mile 11.5ish crossing the other lanes of runners?
I'm having trouble seeing how that won't be a disaster?

I'm thinking about doing the 70.3 as well. Any other thoughts on the quality of this race?

I doubt you actually cross lanes. The course map is just showing the multiple loops - I am sure you will follow the same path/lane/course each loop.

Yeah, the more I thought about it, I guess that didn't make sense. I was picturing actual lanes for running and it's going to just be an open boardwalk.

I think I'm pulling the trigger on it for my first 70.3..........

I volunteered for the full last year. Everyone I talked to seemed to like it. Minus the swim which is changing and the head winds on the bike coming home, which is nature.

l did this race last year and have signed up already for full again. The boardwalk is a great place to run. Crowded at a few spots and zero shade. Crowd was spectators not runners. l really enjoyed the run course.
Swim course was rough. Way slower than l ever thought l would be.
Bike was wonderful. But be prepared for wind coming back out to island. Very smooth roads.
Again run was good.
l really look forward to going back up there for round number 2. Now that l know what it takes to do full difference, l am hoping for a faster race.
