I can believe it. The Whitepaper will hopefully be out soon.

Yeah the point is that there's 10w of crap on the P5.

These testing setups are pretty standard from what I've seen and I would set my bikes up the exact same way assuming I had each of these.

EDIT: I would take the Aero Pouch off the back of the Shiv and just use the storage on the Shiv.

Not a scientific test
The P5X is the only one without the aero rear bottle holder. that has to account for at least 15 watts

15 watts? no. a couple? maybe.

If that's the case most triathletes need to learn to pack more efficiently and use on course support rather than buy a new Samsonite for their crap.

How exactly would you carry a full flat kit in a race? I can barely fit a tube under my saddle. The Aero Pouch works for those of us who do not have storage options on a bike. If you use a large bento bag, that might work. Criticizing the tests may make you feel better, but I've seen these same setups at every single race I've done.

No T5GB with gels strapped to it for the omnium in this test... I am sad.

Isnt the bottle on the frame already that 3watt difference. So remove that and p5 and p5x is equal.
Then remove the gels on the stem (as you can put those in the bentobox.. as its placed on the bike) and p5 is faster.

I dont buy their info on this case..

I believe the assumption is the gels taped to the stem are extras. The bento bag would already have gels in it.

I was being sarcastic

This whole thread is total bullshit.
Bike manufacturers will tell you what a huge advantage their new bike will give you. Its all a big scam designed to sell more new bikes with practically zero added value.
Just keep in mind that Dave Scott did a 5 hour Kona bike on a piece of shit steel road bike in 1980. How many people can do that on the P5-X?

My last couple of 12hr races I didn't use flat kits (tubs with sealant), but if I did there's plenty of room under my Dash. As for nutrition/hydration, depending on how far apart the water stations are I would use two bottles max (and one if they were within ~25 miles of each other) and a gel flask (8oz gel flask tucked down the neck of my skinsuit worked well for my last few 100 mile races).

Point is that if you take care with the details you don't need some overpriced abomination to go faster.

What is the point of comparing multiple bikes in a wind tunnel using wildly consistent setups for each bike? It ruins the credibility of the testing and makes the company look ridiculous.

For example, why would anyone need to tape gels on a Speed Concept when it comes with the largest bento box I've ever seen, capable of holding way more nutrition that anyone would ever need, to say nothing of the massive amount of rear storage via the draft box? Even the taping of the gels differs wildly from bike to bike in terms of their placement. Oh, it is because they saw someone somewhere who did that? If someone decides to tape gels to their P5X then I suppose we should add them to the testing protocol as well?

I love Cervelo as a company and have happily owned many of their bikes, but this is just plain silly.

And what insight do you think the white paper will provide? That the P5x is faster in the tunnel when the P5 is loaded up like you're cycle touring? Astonishing.

Don't assume I am some idiot. I expect them to detail their testing. If not, then it's up to an individual to buy it if they want to.

I don't think you're an idiot, but I do think that you're nut-swinging pretty damn hard. It's as if you're personally invested in the success of this monstrosity.

Not really. I am a Cervelo fan and have been since I started Triathlon. My first tri bike and the bike I still ride is a 2011 Cervelo P2. Do I want the P5-X to succeed? Yes. Do I think the P5 is amazing? Yes.

However, disc brakes are coming and the bike world is changing. I'd rather be apart of new tech then pour money into old tech. Can I afford a P5-X? Not right now. I do think it it's an awesome looking bike and I will be test riding one Saturday at the Slowtwitch Road Show.
