I used a 305 and 500 for years. No problem.
You just upload them separately.
I am assuming you are not using them for the same work out. I am not sure how it would handle that, I think it has "anti duplicate" checks.

Will the 500 download like the 910 or do I have to connect directly to the computer?

The 500 requires a USB connection directly from the device to the computer (mini or micro I forget which).
The usb is also the charging method.

800 and 910 here, works fine with connect
If you use them at the same time for a workout or race it will save duplicate data and you simply need to delete one in connect.

Yes, currently using 920XT, 1000, and vibe, but can still upload from old 500 and 910XT.

Ok, also new to power..so thought I would ask a question:
When its getting your Avg Power is the watch or 500 also averaging in when I am in a rest period if I am doing intervals?
Secondly, a friend said on the 500 I can set the computer to "not include zero's". Can someone explain what that means and how I find that on the 500?

Well, I upload from a Garmin 800, a Garmin 310, a Garmin Swim and now a Garmin 920. Each one uploads based upon whatever its method is. If you record the same workout on multiple devices simultaneously then they will all upload and you'll have the same workout recorded multiple times. For example, when I've used the 310 on my wrist and the 800 on the bike and upload both of them, they will both show the ride. But, I can delete one of the workouts if I want (or rename it in a fashion where I've called it a duplicate).

I have my 310xt and my 910xt connected, even recording the same workout when I was trying to verify the instantaneous pace difference between the two.

You won't be able to use most of the important parts of power measurement if you don't include zeros.
The option to shut it off literally removes points without power, such as coasting down hill.
This is also important in running, but some people prefer the fiction of their pace without stops.

Check out the DC rainmaker garmin 500 review.
It discusses the option a bit.
It is found under power meter options near 1 second recording.
Hope that is more helpful
