Camp Pendleton Bike

Just came down to RAINY SoCal today from Vancouver.

Was planning on riding from Carlsbad to S. Clemente via Camp Pendleton.

They still letting us ride there?

Yes. You have to register your bike annually, then you're good to go. Love that ride!

Reg is good for 6 months, but, TBH, they rarely check.

Been about a year since I regged and no issues.

Its a purdy ride, but there are much better around N SD county

Check out the grades out behind fallbrook

Just talked to a friend from Vancouver who rode through Pendleton on the weekend with a DL and Passport. They only scanned the DL.

Well as you no doubt know, it's going to rain all weekend. Pendleton is a bit of a mess at the moment, bunch of construction and a lot of dirt mud and gravel. Just rode through there this past weekend.

You have to register 1-2 weeks ahead of time. I rode about 5 times last spring and summer and had my drivers license scanned every time (you are supposed to carry whatever document you register with- one of my buds had an expired DL and used his passport)
You might get turned away if not screened ahead of time and have to ride on I-5,; which is legal.

I think I'll give Pendleton a try maybe Sat or Sun.

I'm staying just the I-5 in Czbad and often do the Swami's Ride thru Elphin/Harmony and Palomar from the Harrah's Casino but that's just asking for trouble with these conditions.

Any other suggestions? Looking for about 2-3 hours. SAFE routes preferred!
