30%+ DNF, my guess that somewhere along the bike, he and most others realised they were right at the back and didn;t stand a chance to be in contention and call it a day

Not sure if Kona needs such a big pro field, 40-40 including auto qualifiers is plenty!

For all of his success in IMNZ (which he has dominated for over a decade), he is getting on a bit and hasn't been a factor at Kona for years. I wouldn't be surprised if he's not eyeing up retirement

Swim. Overbike. Walk.

Not to hijack the thread, I wondered the same thing about Ritchie Cunningham--he's been really quiet & is not a spring chicken anymore.

he posted that on the bike he just had no energy and felt terrible.

He's a legend of the sport so I wouldn't be too harsh on him.

I ride:
Cervelo - P-Series/R3
GT - Sensor Carbon Expert

Supporters - Flo Cycling, Mount Bikes

He actually said after IMNZ that he wouldn't be going to Kona and then did.

Maybe should have listened to his own advice.

But agree. One of the greatest ever to never win Kona
