Very interesting...

I thought he looked 10-15 pounds over race weight at Super League, but my buddy argued that he always looks that way. Maybe he really was sick, or maybe he raced so poorly because he was in a big 70.3 block.

I hope he toes the line healthy and we get a taste of what he can do. I think he could be a long course monster and would be less injured with less top-end training.

I was thinking more like 2 or 3 kilos but being pasty white makes you look heavier than if you're tanned.

Sanders isn't doing it? Doesn't he usually do it? You have to wonder if he'll change his plans with Alistair on there especially since he didn't get the race from Jan he wanted.

Just what I was thinking. I bet he and his coach are exchanging emails right now:
Lionel - "I really want to go compete against these guys, and my swim is getting better"
Coach - "We have to stick to the plan to get you the 70.3 World Trophy"

I bet he's there in May

Does every thread have to be about Sanders? Is former Kona champion, 2nd at Kona 2016 and former 70.3 World Champion Kienle against 1st timer and 2 time Olympics winner A. Brownlee not interesting?

No every thread does not need to be about Sanders but given the numbers Sanders is able to put out he is clearly the most talented athlete out there IMO. As Tim Don told me directly, "do you know anyone that can push 350 watts and then run 1:11, I don't". We didn't get our Sanders vs Frodeno fight. We want to see a fight, not Brownlee literally run away with it.

Because he:
1)Won the race last year, beating Kienle
2)Rode this power file http://home.trainingpeaks.com/...QOW6DX47CBITBBVEOXSU
3) Backed it up with a 1:13 run on that run course

He would be a compelling addition to this race.

Who cares, Ben Kanute is going to spank both of them.

Right now Sanders is doing well.
I think it would be good for the sport if the best met more often in competition.
Just like in other endurance sports.

Sanders get attention because he is also sharing information.
Smart move from him.

Not how the conversation went.

Lionel has always had St. George on the plan.

Holy piss! Very exciting. If there was one race other than the worlds that WTC should pull their finger out over coverage, this is the puppy.

Brownlee and Kanute form an alliance on the swim to create a big gap.
Both are strong riders and work together to build ground on Kienle/Sanders.
The chasing Ă¼ber bikers go ham and catch AB/Kanute on the Snow Canyon climb.
All together into T2.
Brownlee potentially struggles on the run if the heat gets up to 85+ degrees.

I don't know who wins; this is as far as I'm willing to predict.
